Hey there! I am back again, this time with a little different contest which I hope people will enjoy voting in. As you all know, in 2004 came the introduction of the Semifinals and the number of participating nations increased from 26 in 2003 to 36 in 2004. But what if that didn't happen? What if the placements of the previous years mattered on which nations were allowed to compete, just like they did in 2000 and forward. So I decided to see which songs would be able to compete in 2004 if that rules were implemented and I need your help to decide what our outcome of it would look like, now over 20 years later.
So for every week (except for a break during the holidays), we will see 26 songs from every year compete for getting the trophy. You will work as jury members, ranking all 26 songs from #1 (the best) to #26 (the worst). The top 10 for every year (excluding the Big 4/5) will secure a place for coming year.
There is also a queue system, where the nations not competing is waiting to return, also determined after the placement they did in the previous edition they competed in. But there is a rule system for who gets in and not:
1. If a nation that qualifies for the next year has withdrawn, the next nation in the previous year ranking take the spot.
2. Debutants, and countries that has withdrawn and come back after a longer period of time get the advantage of taking a spot before anyone in the queue does.
3. A country that succeded to reach the the top 10 and withdrawn in the past, but do come back the following year, gets their spot back before any anyone else in the queue does.
The running order for each year is also slightly changed, using the modern method of "Producers choice", with countries put in the same half in the final (and dividing the non-qualifiers depending on running order in semis) are being sorted to make it as good genre-wise as possible. From 2013 and forward, I use the running order in the final mostly, allowing all countries (except for the host) to be moved one position earlier or later. The songs that got eliminated are still divided after half and put in to make a variation in genre as much as possible.
So for this edition, we are going for the third time in a row to Albania! Here are how the nations got selected for this contest.
