Ummmmmm. What the actual f--k? :?

As a filmmaker, I'm genuinely embarrassed at how awful most of the camera work was tonight. I noticed there were several camera glitches during the broadcast; as though the camera technicians forgot their cue. Embarrassing on their behalf! Let's not start on the camera work for the performances... argh!!!!!!

The sound mixer was just as worse, in my opinion. The voice needs to have a smooth transition on television. And in order for that to happen, the voice needs a lot of room to travel and bounce from. Everything sounded flat; like they were performing in a small inclosed room. I have noticed this problem a lot during Eurovision.

The way DR has handled the camera and sound aspect has been a huge disappointment!

They should have just hired the technicians from the MTV Video Music Awards...

I too felt things could have been a lot better. Brilliant staging but the shots were a let down somewhat. The sound was the worst part though. As you mentioned HabaHaba, everyones vocals came across flat in the mix.

Exactly, which is probably why I thought everyone have been bad vocally.

This is rubbish, after all rehearsals and the preparations before that, they had every chance to adjust the mixing to their satisfaction. It's live performance, nerves are pressing and experience make a huge impact on the act. Valentina, Sanna and Tanja delivered, Marija and especially Dilara failed miserably. You cannot blame the sound engineers for that.

My father is a dj and radio presenter and he didn't pick up on anything with the sound ... although he said some parts were a little flat, but that was just individual acts. He was lecturing me on what lights were used though ... the joys of watching it with your dad, eh xD

I'm not talking about bad vocals, i'm talking about the vocal mixing of every artist overall.

Actually, rather strangely enough, I found myself quite impressed with Marija's performance and vocals. It must have been a moments weakness for me where I allowed myself to get carried awayxshifty

You mean there's a difference between the sound during the actual semi final compared to rehearsals (although I think we never heard the official sound)? Or you mean the overall sound of the event compared to other events? Just to mention curiosa I know there has been broadcasts of Melodifestivalen where the 5.1 digital sound output somehow lost channels when transformed to analogue stereo in "old" TVs.

I mean the quality of the sound compared to other live events. I'm not an audiophile by any means or a professional but I think i've just heard a lot better vocal mixing from a live environment before than I did tonight. I think I might for the first time buy the dvd this year (as it's such a great year) and then perhaps i'd be able to judge better with a snazzy pair of headphones on.

The show was great. I'm not hating on it. I think Denmark have given us the best stage since Russia. The sound just didn't seem exactly right to me.

Yeah, at times there were some really sloppy editing, but mostly, I could live with it. And yes, there were something wrong with the mix. Too much treble, I think. Maybe I should get a new TV...

Isn't there a way of getting in contact with the event supervisor and notifying them about the sound issue?

I didn't like the camera shots. It was too many images of the stage from far away, there wasn't much intimacy. It felt like they just wanted to brag about the stage.

I was actually quite pleased with the camera work - it was by far not as disastrous as e.g. 2011.

But the sound was definitely a mess. I was wondering what the heck was stuck in my ears the whole evening... and no matter how loud I turned the volume, the voices were still too quiet in comparison with the music. And this had an interesting side effect on me - I did not "feel" that it was Eurovision. The ESC vibe just didn't come over to me. It could've been any other late night music programme :(

But you can't wish for everything, right? :D So I wouldn't say it was too disppointing on the whole.
