Will Cyprus do a hat trick of Cypriot Australians, or will Cyprus draw on a different diaspora this time? Or even a Cypriot artist who is based in Cyprus?

Time will tell.

According to Eurovisionfun, RIK will require that the Cypriot ESC 2025 representative be based in Cyprus.

Important people from the music industry and Eurovision “experts” are taking part in a focus group, which will act advisorily and will narrow down the possible candidates that the national broadcaster will choose based on the following criteria:

  • To be able to manage the demanding Eurovision stage
  • To be based in Cyprus
Haha, that’s clearly Anna (jokes and my faNNatism aside) xgiggle But there’s no way she would compete with others to be selected. And she doesn’t want it anymore, so that’s it. But it’s nice to dream.

Their 2024 entry made its way onto my 'Spotify repeat' playlist a few weeks ago - took a while but it grew!

I just hope Cyprus don't go down a ballad route now

Hopefully something more interesting, I´m really tired to hear the same formula from :cy: again and again. xbored

"Ela Ela" was something authentic and different - yet the live vocals were tragic and I fear that :cy: not qualifying that year - whilst they were able to be quite successful with generic pop music tailored by Swedes made them qualify, CyBC will probably stick to their formula for now.

I expect another pop song by G:son or Jimmy "Joker" fully performed in English.

Neither songwriter of "Liar" is Swedish. In fact, one of them is Greek.

Theo Evan is confirmed as Cyprus’ entry and is the first artist out of the traps for 2025!

He's a great dancer for sure but i've listened to his songs and it's not what i really like, not my taste at all. But it was the same for Nemo last year and in the end, his ESC entry was beyond amazing and ended up in my Top 3 so i only asked to be surprised.

Hmm will have to wait and see what the song is like. I listened to one and it was just ok. Cyprus have been one of favourite countries in Eurovision over the past number of years so I'm hopeful they will deliver
