Anyone else here obsessed with songs from Central Asia, modern or traditional, especially when they're singing in Turkic languages? By Central Asia I specifically mean Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and yes, Tajikistan (even though their language isn't Turkic).

I couldn't find an existing thread, so apologies if there already was one and I overlooked it. :)

Some of my favourites:

TURKMEN

Mähri Pirgulyýewa - "Aýterek-Günterek"

Lyrics! I am seriously obsessed with this song...

UZBEK

Shahrizoda - "Zor etma"

I uploaded this one, not a video clip (although one does exist, I have a link to it in description). I also have lyrics in the description.
As far as I'm aware, Shahrizoda are not that popular in Uzbekistan, at least there are SO many other artists who are far more famous (Shahzoda, Lola, Ulug'bek Rahmatullayev). I love these girls though. :D I think this song is dated back to 2007?

A song by a guy who is a bit more popular....

Shohruhxon - "Menga farqi yo'q"

Lyrics here!
This clip is kind of hilarious. He seems like a funny guy :)

KYRGYZ

Mirbek İmanbekov - "Kara köz"

Lyrics
I love that low-budget film clip bahaha...

Would loooooooooooooooooooooooooooveeeee to hear your favourites. :D I'd post more but.... I think your computers might explode. ;)

Beautiful song, wyq614, thanks for sharing. I like a few Uyghur songs as well, like this one below:

Gulyaru - "Shirinjan"

^^ Ahh great song, Carrie! I've never heard that one before :)

An Uzbek song I've been listening to a LOT lately:

Lola Yo'ldosheva - "Asta"

Awww :D I should! I'll have a look at the rules etc. Maybe I'll join, we'll see.... :) I would definitely join with Uzbekistan. I like more songs from that country and know more artists. You can only have up to 2 countries as part of a trans-national region (so I couldn't do 'Central Asia').

Fluke - haha, love it. Nice song. Chechen isn't a Turkic language but I think it's a really cool one, quite unusual!
My friend amateur only showed me a Chechen-language song yesterday, and I'll post it here because it's gorgeous :3

Lyrics here.

Even I can make it more simple :

1. take a country/region that is not yet taken (any central Asia country is still free) xheya
2. you just need to be OP (Observation Period; just to see your interest in the contest). this means you cannot send any entry but have to vote in the final (only 1 edition for new member)
3. Voila! in the next edition, you can send any entry! :D

if you join now, then you just need to be OP in edition #47 and can send your entry in edition #48

see, it's simple :D :D

omg I love Turkmenistan so much xheart xheart xheart

This is one of my favourite songs.

Another one I have fallen in love with:

Myahri is one of my favourite Turkmen artists, though. Hope she releases more amazing stuff next time.

I've got 2 favourite regions when it comes to music. DPR Korea and Central Asia (mostly Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and to a lesser extent Kyrgyzstan.)

nekoisneko - Ooooh it does seem pretty simple. I might wait until the 'Eurovision Your Choice Contest' is over, and then I'll think about joining WorldVision eee :D

DannyDS, nice songs!!! RE the first video, Aşgabat looks ridiculously ostentatious, like the Government just threw all their money into ornate statues of the President or golden horses and perfectly green and manicured gardens that nobody appears to be using.... There's hardly anybody on the roads, either! Maybe they filmed on a public holiday?! haha....

Here's a Mähri song I recently discovered! It's from January this year. I'm sure you've already heard it, though :p
