So... a comment by GWTW in the Israel thread made me think of the infamous Barbara Dex award! I know we still have time before the live performances but who do you feel will be the recipient this year???

I say Romania.

Cascada is one of the best songs this year, but her outfit in NF was quite horrible TBH! :(

The same goes for Moran Mazor from Israel. LOL songs i like this year have bad outfits.. :/

Totally agree on both examples... !

It's one thing to be proud and comfortable in your own skin... but self-awareness is also important... if you don't have the body for a certain dress, then perhaps realizing it is better than delude yourself...

Not to be rude or anything... but none of their outfits were/looked really flattering on them...

I'm afraid Anouk might hurt her chances aswell... she seems to be the girl that just shows up in some simple jeans and a top... yet her entry asks for something completely different... the ultimate Barbara Dex award would imo go to the act/s that dresses in such a mis-matching way according to their entry that it might hurt the overall impression of the entry and block potential success... then it's actually a real failure!

Afterall this is Eurovision... while the songs are the most important thing... for many viewers the overall package presented on the ESC evenings will ultimately influence their choices... in some cases such "shallow" things such as styling and clothing can make it or break it for an entry.

I agree with you about the failure to match costume with the song. That what the award should really be about and I think its a big failure because it looks like the country didn't put much thought into their presentation. It can come off like they don't give a crap about it.

I agree with the choices of Germany and Israel and I pray both have better stylists when they come to Sweden. I would like to add Macedona. From the video and pictures I have seen Esma seems like a real hoot and has lots of different wild colors on her traditional clothing. I know its part of her cultural and ethnic backgraound but I get the feeling when people vote for this award people will simply laugh and call her dress sense crazy and outlandash. Everyone else seems a little dull and conservative in comparision.

Also I have seen comments in the Sweden thread about Robin's dress sense and people wanting him to dress more masculine (or whatever that means) and less flashy. If everyone else is conservative and people get mean I could see him possibly win too. Its probably a long shot but I think its possible.

Honestly, I thought Moran looked amazing in that dress. If she's comfortable doing it, then I have no problem with her showing it off.

She looked like a brick, alternatively a potato sack... It's not that I wanna be rude or anything, I'm just honest...

One of the worst things people can do to others is being yay-sayers and play along with their delusion (I think that's even more rude than be critical)... constructive criticism must be given when needed... it just didn't look flattering imo...

But if you liked it then that's your opinion and I respect that... if she liked it herself then I guess there's not much one can say to change her mind other than some advice from an outsider's perspective.

The dress looked very baggy on her and probably made her look much bigger than she actually is. Thats never a good thing on man or woman.

I agree. Playing along with her and just saying you like it because you don't want to offend doesn't help anyone. But from the first moment I saw her I thought she looked strikingly beautiful, and I loved the dress. For me, the best looking woman in this year's contest along with Amandine Bourgeois.

Hmm, we certainly don't have the same taste in dresses and looks... well this is not so much about the dress itself (although I didn't like the overall look of it) but that it doesn't fit her and makes it look unflattering...

But as long as people are genuine in their opinions it's all good, the worst are people who say that someone looks good or fits in something just "to be nice" but actually think something else...

I've actually had some trouble with Margaret Berger's dress. To me it looks like a blob.

Imo, Natalie Horler and Moran Mazor are serious contenders for the title - at least at the moment. :D
