I hate "final warnings" post but I guess we're overdue for one here. This is turning into pure politics, take it to the proper forum. Thanks much!

I asked to move it, I mean you're the mod, are you unable to move it yourself?

I don't have the time to move your posts cause you don't want to post them in the right place. Just stop it and post it where it belongs.

It just came to my mind before though, that whilst somebody has said that Mao Zedong is an inspirational leader (I disagree with that but have no problem with somebody else seeing it differently), if somebody had put up that they found Hitler an inspirational leader then I wonder if that would be seen differently by people and if that would have been considered "hate speech". Just a thought .

I have been very uncomfortable about things that have been written in the Politics section, I remember a few weeks ago comments about trans people. I would say they were bordering on hate speech, but I ignored it because I know what that section is like and I still choose to go in it, so I cant exactly moan lol.
Just came in to say I agree about the trans thing. That thread made me very uncomfortable, along with some of the comments towards gay people. I'd say some of it was borderline hate speech. Maybe something has been done about it behind closed doors, but I know it made me very uncomfortable. Just thought I'd mention it here. Generally, moderation is fine though.

Re: Not enough moderation at the political section/Freedom of Speech

    BUMP

I sympathize with SpZ on the wish for more moderation, e.g. splitting and joining threads, deletion of off-topic posts etc, as it tends to enforce discipline among the posters and make the discussion more useful. Still, there are so few posters that it should be self-regulated. I don't think anyone would object if the Admin tested a more active role though.

A bigger problem is political posts outside of the political subforum and the reason why I bumped the thread. I'd actually go so far to say this problem pretty much ruined much of the forum coverage of Eurovision 2013. It's not easy to explain forum sentiments but I'll try: Personally I left the forum completely during Melodifestivalen 2013 as I didn't want the experience spoiled. I also know I'm far from alone feeling like this. During 2012 and 2013 I think I decided to leave the forum 5-6 times in periods which lasted from couple of weeks to months. All because of political posts or political undertones or prejudices. Some people don't care, some may like it, some may not even notice it, myself I can't bear political remarks as it takes away all the fun. Note that I'm not talking about fun trolling or sarcasm here, I love those. It's not about "haters" either, although I never find them fun at all. I'm also aware that moderators have their full right to shape the forum as they feel fit. Still, all these posts I reacted on clearly violated the forum rules. And yes I reported lots of posts but rarely got any result. Swedophobia and anti-Scandinavism can sometimes be harsh in the forum, a phenomena I've hard to understand. A kind of bitter-angry hostility. Now, I don't want a tiresome discussion on examples and proof as it is far too late now and pretty pointless. Instead I can point out some threads there some quick browsing show what I mean.

Note: I can see myself overreacting on several occasions, obviously constantly provoked to the brink of leaving. Sometimes trying to find ways of overcome my uneasiness. Never really enjoying myself, can't really see anyone else enjoying themselves either.

SWEDEN 2013 - Robin Stjernberg - You - terrible thread

    ESC 2013 - Loreen's Loft
Malmö is hosting ESC 2013 - truly awful
Eurovision 2013 in Sweden - Your wishes, suggestions and ideas for the show

There are many more, but I think most users understand what this is all about.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
So what todo? I have a suggestion which may work to solve the problem in an easy way.

Create a sticky thread "Garbage can" in the political section and move all even the least suspicious posts to this thread. If there is a discussion, it can continue in the garbage thread without disturbing others. Discontent posters should be able to appeal to get their post restored. To be effective moderators needs to be hard and execute a "zero tolerance" to politics, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia etc. Also, the garbage thread can possibly be lots of fun as well.
