    José Guardiola, Spanish representative in Eurovision 1963, died earlier today at the age of 81 in Barcelona. He will be remembered as "The Spanish crooner".
    Born in 1930, José (Josep) Guardiola became very popular in the 1950s and 1960s, thanks to his covers of American and Italian songs. He also recorded several albums in Catalan.
    José Guardiola represented Spain in Eurovision 1963, in London, with the song Algo prodigioso, thus becoming the third Spanish ambassador in the contest. He ended up 12th out of 16 participants that year.

    [B]Marcus Englof, songwriter and producer, passed away on June 25 at the age of 34. The cause of his death remains unknown so far.

    The Spanish press reports today about the death of Juan Carlos Calderón, the composer behind the hit “Eres tu” performed by Mocedades. The group competed with the song in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest where it placed second.






    He was 74 years old.

    Another Eurovision personality has gone to the clouds. Presenter of the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest and former television presenter Hannie Lips passed peacefully away last week at the grand old age of 88.

    Bob Allison, one half of the Allisons (UK 1961) passed away at the age of 72. Here is their entry which finished 2nd that year.
