Raise your hand if you're sick to death of being treated like a doormat by literally everyone.

    Re: How do you feel?

I once cared about others and honestly the only I got was being the second choice and not being cared about. I've learnt that people don't want friends that only care about them. They want friends that make funny comments, and if they also care about them, yet better. Well, what a disgrace for me: I'm not funny, I was born a boring person, who loves staying at home instead of going to parties, who is very limited when it comes to social interaction... So caring about others is absolutely useless in this sense because I lack the main ingredient: I am not funny. And if being an empathic person was my only virtue, now I don't even have this ... because my problems required paying all my attention to myself. It sounds very egoist and egocentric, but I've had enough of thinking of others and leaving myself abandoned because I lose time waiting for someone to heal me.
The good thing is that, ok, now I'm a damn egoist and insensitive person, but at least I don't see everything dark like I used to see it. And this is a true liberation for me.

I am funny when I'm with my close friend circle. I don't need to be funny around people I am not that close. (I can't even be if I try hard.) Judging on the fact that you lack a real close friend circle, it seems to me quite normal you are what you consider yourself "boring". This also depends on if/how comfortable you are around the people you get to be close with. If they somehow make you nervous (because you're trying hard to be in their attention), that is a problem. I don't think you are unfunny, you just don't have these kind of people to bring up your funny side. Communication is two sided stick afterall.

Oh, I was being kind of ironical, I’m definitely NOT a boring person. I’m funny in my own way. The problem is that very few people get to know this side of me because they leave me as their second or third choice before I can show it to them they prefer spending their time with someone openly cool and funny, which I now understand btw, it makes sense. Luckily I do have a friend that has been like my alter ego since 2008 when we met at uni, that’s why I know I’m not boring at all.

Edit: as I don't like going out in the night, and I feel uncomfortable in parties and group conversations, they get tired of me easily XD. They find me boring in this sense, because this is something that's not gonna change even if you are a true friend of mine.

    Re: How do you feel?

Today was a big day for me. I took my qualifying exam today (it's an exam that includes all the topics covered in the first year of the doctoral program). I was preparing for it for the past month and a half. I have never been so anxious for a test in my life. I'm so glad that it's over. Now, it's the waiting game to get my results back. I'm hoping that I don't have to retake it .

    Re: How do you feel?

Perhaps one day they will know how it feels having such a long term depression, and the frustration of not being able to control emotions, of talking before thinking because you have reached your limits and you're exploding. And when you finally find a way not to hate yourself, not to be so negative, not to overthink too much, not to think your life is worth nothing, when you gradually start living in peace again, you realise that you can't undo your mistakes, your wrong approaches to some problems, your words... you just promise yourself you won't repeat them. However, some people have already abandoned you and they are not actually going to give another chance. Therefore, those that still give you love despite your attacks of anger, those are the ones I have to take care of. And I swear I won't give up on them if they ever experience something similar, even if they don't tell it me (but I'll notice). I didn't tell anyone around me how I felt. This forum and some of its members have been my outlet and I'm very thankful for that.

    Re: How do you feel?

I feel sad right now as I just had to break the news to my mother that the animator Richard Williams passed away. He was the man responsible for Disney’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit, as well as Pink Panther and the extremely troubled The Thief and the Cobbler, which holds the Guinness world record for most years a film has spent being in development (a whopping 31 years). Both my parents worked for Richard Williams, and my mother has always spoke highly of him. Richard basically got her started in the world of cartoons and animation, and my parents wouldn’t have met otherwise. He lived a good life it seems but I feel sad for my mum. She took it well, and we spoke about him for a good thirty minutes, but I knew how she was feeling inside. That was like a whole era of her life. I don’t think I appreciated enough when I was younger just how cool the work my parents did was. I mean, Roger Rabbit is freaking iconic, and so unique a film. The animation is stunning, and my parents helped make that happen.

Edit: I've just learned from my mother that she spent fourteen years working on The Thief and the Cobbler, and she told me she painted "most of it". Whilst Richard assigned people to work on other stuff like commercials and shows, my mum worked on the movie, often being the sole person working with paints on the project at particular periods. Richard apparently very much trusted her with it. I’m reading about the film now and it's got a fascinating history. I always knew of The Thief and the Cobbler, and have watched it as a child, but I didn't know the crazy story behind it.

    Re: How do you feel?

Well, it's been a while since I felt genuinely fine, for I've been through a lot over the last two years. Not everything is sorted out yet, I'm getting there, but there still are some obstacles that prevent me from starting afresh.

Anyway, on my dad's advice, I ended up treating myself at the last minute and visited London undercover for a long weekend. Not only was it my first time travelling to the UK, but my last holiday and my last travel abroad were respectively two and five years ago. No need to say I enjoyed it very much, it did me a world of good.

It was a short stay, so I consider coming back rather soon. If anyone knows good alternative fashion shops for men there, I'm all ears because I'd like to go shopping so bad but I struggle to find unusual clothes in France. I'm tired of basic ass outfits. Maybe next time I should let my fellow members here know when I'm in the area.

Finally, I can now proudly say I'm no longer a Eurovision virgin. Went to a special gig and got to meet some past representatives. Yep. Loved it. I'd be willing to write a review of that experience on the forum, but I have no idea where to post it. Hopefully I'll attend Eurovision one day, just once would be kind of an achievement for the fan that I am.

I'm not sure if I said this somewhere already or if I just talked with @Edward about it via PMs, but I wish there were an "ESC United reunion" where the team and members of the forum attending the contest live would meet during the Eurovision week to chat and have fun together. I always thought it would be a nice additional event to add to our calendars.
