    Re: HUNGARY 2017

A very interesting collection of songs with a few good songs:
    1. Soulwave - Kalandor 9/10: For me the rare type of song that could already grow to one of my favourite Eurovision songs of the past 5 years if it wins. I haven't been this exited over a song since the Common Linnets and Softengine in 2014! It ticks all the boxes, memorable yet artistic, influenced by folk/alternative rock (which I love), in the native language and an atmosphere which actually touches your feelings.
    2. The Couple - Vége Van 8/10: Very emotional and relaxing at the same time, very impressed. Yet this feels like a song that would fall flat live.
    3. Kallay Saunders Band - 17 8/10: Not as good as their last attempt, but I'm waiting for the return of Kally Saunders to the contest, which will probably happen one of these years.
    4. David Henderson - White Shadows 7,5/10: Very good, even thoug it feels like a 1000 other songs I hear on the radio.
    5. Spoon 21 - Daek: First time I'm going to make a comparison to Justin Bieber as a compliment. Trying to get red of the "boy band" image to develop as genuine pop artist......and suprisingly seeming to succeed.
    6. Szabyest - Szerelem Kell 7,5/10: Very generic, but still very good in it's genre. The hungarian language could help this song elevate in the contest might it win.

As for the discussion above, why would you reduce your music taste to gender, that makes absolutely no sense to me.
I get if you have a preference for male or female voices, but disregarding songs just because they are sung by male or female vocalists is just stupid.
I get the feeling that most people on this forum don't care that much about gender or race. It's just a small minority that keeps making this an issue.
I for example have a clear preference for male voices (as is reflected by my favourites in this national selection )
Nevertheless, that doesn't mean I can't love song by female vocalists and artists like:

2016 Francesca Michielin - Nessun Grado di Seperazione (my number #1)
    2016 Nina Kraljic - Lighthouse
2016 Poli Genova - If Love was a Crime
2015 Molly Sterling - Playing With Numbers
2015 Maraaya - Here for You
    2014 Dilara Kazimova - Start A Fire
2014 Molly - Children of the Universe
2014 Mei Finegold - Same Heart
2013 Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops (my number #1)
2013 Margaret Berger - Feed You My Love
    2013 Zlata Ognevich - Gravity

    Re: HUNGARY 2017

I have to say that I really like A Dal this year. The overall level is much higher in couple of recent years. However, I don't like that there are 30 songs released at once. It is a bit too much.

    My ranking

    1. TOTOVA - Hosszú idők
    2. Pápai Joci -Origo
    3. Ádám Szabó - Together
    4. Zoltán Mujahid - On My Own

    5. Leander Kills - Élet

    6. KYRA Fedor - Got to Be a Day

    7. The Couple - Vége van
    8. AnnaElza feat. Júli Kása - Jártam
    9. Zävodi + Olivér Berkes - #háttérzaj
    10. Benji - Karcok

    11. Rocktenors - Ősz
    12. Andi Tóth - I've Got a Fire
    13. Gigi Radics - See It Through
    14. Calidora - Glory
    15. Mrs Columbo - Frozen King

    16. Kata Csondor - Create
    17. The Wings - Mint a hurrikán!

    18. Soulwave - Kalandor
    19. Kállay Saunders Band - 17
    20. Viki Singh - Rain

    21. Orsi Sapszon - Hunyd le szemed
    22. Spoon 21 - Deák
    23. Roma Soul - Nyitva a ház

    24. Peet Project - Kill Your Monster
    25. Benjámin Pál - Father's Eyes
    26. Gina Kanizsa - Fall Like Rain

    27. Dávid Henderson - White Shadows
    28. Peter Kovary & The Royal Rebels - It's a Riot
    29. Enikő Muri - Jericho

Ewww... I actually don't get the same opinion as you, due to her horrible performance at the ESC 2016 tbh...
She absolutely didn't sound the same as in the studio version, despite loving her song so much. (it was placed in my top 5 tbh... )

I tried to translate it. The lyrics seems to talk about a fight between a crow and a little oriole bird. It was written by her boyfriend (who himself participates as a member of the group Roma Soul)

    Totova - Long Times

The bloom of the cherry tree is awakening, the golden oriole is waiting for it,
So with her wings and beak opened, she can write her spring song.
My sweet petal wait, because your branch will not grow
Crows are sitting on it, holding on to it with their claws.

    Long times later,
    I give you my singing.
I am here for you again,
My body and soul fired up for it.

Her feathers are messy, weary, her voice got hoarse
She wants to sing on the prettiest tree, get the better of the big birds
Crying in her ugly voice, stomping over flowers, she thrones, owning her tree
She is cawing on it, hiding away her colour, so she does not hear the oriole anymore

    Long times later,
    I give you my singing.
I am here for you again,
My body and soul fired up for it.

But the little bird now, just like a shaman, angrily flies towards the tree
Letting out her voice, sending it to the branch, she scared away the crows

Give over a spoon, I will stab myself in the heart!

    Long times later,
    I give you my singing.
I am here for you again,
My body and soul fired up for it. (x2)

Also, I translated the first two verses of Joci Pápai's, Origo, lyrics written by himself.

You must close your eyes, that's how you can see me
To conquer my heart, you have to know my soul
If you don't need me, let me go, I was born to be a wanderer
I've suffered long enough, but God sees me, he sees me

Why did you lie to me that my colour doesn't matter?
You could knew my eye is brown, it never changes within me
I don't need more of you, go away, leave me alone
I don't want to see you anymore, may you be damned forever, forever

    Re: HUNGARY 2017

If the draws somehow end up how I want them to, I predict the final 8 to look like this:

    Adam Szabo - Together
    Benjamin Pal - Father's Eyes
Chase - Dust In The Wind
    David Henderson - White Shadows
Gigi Radics - See It Through
    Soulwave - Kalandor
    Spoon 21 - Deak
    TOTOVA - Hosszu Idok

Andi Toth, Benji and Kyra Fedor could be potential dark horses.
