It's February, and Asiavision was supposed to be held on March.
    No news?
    What happened again?

Hopefully these plans will lead to something beyond a Wikipedia entry for once.

Eurovision Asia is confirmed YAY (so excited to see South Korea shred this contest in pieces and becoming the new Swedish successful Eurovision Country for Asia)

Does this count as announcing Kazakhstan?

What if they didn't? South Korean songs are mostly annoying that I wouldn't bear a single "K-pop group entry"...

If this contest ever takes place, I'm confident South Koreans will slay because K-pop music enjoys quite some success worldwide (like Japan and their J-pop), so in an Asian-centered contest they'll certainly be popular. It's not unusual for Korean groups to tour abroad in the region (China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines...).

By the way, K-pop - like European pop - just means popular music, it doesn't refer to a specific style: they could send club bangers, vocal ballads, avant-garde pop, midtempo songs... It would be up to them. To me, their asset is that they know about modernity, catchiness and creativity.

I'm sure Eurovision Asia would be worth watching for the visuals too, Asians are much more into elaborate presentations than we are.

Oh, I was so conviced that it was only referring to bands, though I don't know any singers nor popular songs, which aren't coming from S.Korean groups tbh.

    My mistake, sorry!

No, no, that's okay! You were right in assuming most Korean acts are groups (that's their cup of tea), but there are also solo artists. Musically, it depends on what labels want their groups to be specialised in: energetic electro-pop "badass" music, "cutesiness" (cute and innocent music), vocal-centered songs, "sexy" acts, and so on...
