I prefer the Dziesma 2013 version, but yeah Fox Lima deserved to win! It had such a mystical vibe to it and with a little re-work it could have been Latvia's "Rändajad moment" in ESC, instead we ended up with crap... Latvia is one of my least favorite countries in ESC and they do the same mistake as neighbor Lithuania and go for crap/safe/dated/joke entries instead of cool interesting genuine stuff.

Latvia has indeed been one of the worst countries on the ESC. Their last entry i can say I like is....I honestly don't know. 2002 I guess, even though even that was just meh.
Actually I kinda liked 2010 now that I'm thinking about that

I think their only truly good entry was their debut in 2000, I agree on 2010 though but the cringe lyrics and messy performance was off-putting, but bar that I like that entry aswell. 2011-2012 were decent, but should have had more work done to them. There's a sorta early 00's ESC novelty about 2002-2003, but not exactly good songs by any means. Other than that they haven't been good at all imo.

Agreed. 2000 was quirky but fun
2010 was good in my opinion, but the performance was indeed strange. And I do agree with 2011-2012. 2011 was just too bland though, not bad, but just bland. 2012 was good as a song, and the lyrics were funny, but the performance was, again, stupid. 2002 is 'meh' for me, not good, not bad. I still can't believe their most recent sucess was 2008. Now that is the type of entry that puts Eurovision to shame. Everything about it was ridiculous. Couldn't get through that song back then, and can't no. And to think that song finished above the great song!

Yeah, I pretty much agree with all here... 2008 was really a big shame, it was just stupid and juvenile. There was nothing tongue-in-cheek, quirky or novelty about it (like for instance Ukraine 2007 or Russia 2012), it was just plain boring and not even good enough for the small kids. It's indeed a shame that that is one of their most successful entries to date.

And yeah 2010-2012 were all decent but should have been revamped for ESC, well they sorta were but not enough.

Only Latvian entries I've liked were Pirates Of The Sea (one of the few gimmick entries I've ever liked) and Brainstorm. Generally send poor quality entries despite usually having a solid NF.
    Current 2019 ranking (23rd February) 12. Australia, 10. Estonia, 8. Albania, 7. Spain, 6. Czech Republic, 5. Latvia, 4. Italy, 3. Romania, 2. Germany, 1. Slovenia

I like most of the Latvian entries, and actually have high respect that they have different entries all the time. They also try to introduce some new sounds to the contest. It's not always great, but I have a high respect for that as I said, and I like most of their entries.

Eurovision Latvia: LTV receives 73 songs for Dziesma 2014 -

73 looks very few no ?
    It doesn't look very promising...
60 of the entries are in English, 11 are in Latvian, 1 in Russian and 1 in 1 in French.
What about a Latvian entry in French ? After Italian...

Fortunately, none of the entries have been written in Tirpini...

Seems like a typical number of submissions.
    2010 - 79
    2011 - 71
    2012 - 71
    2013 - 122 (international submissions were allowed)

Much less than in Estonia though, Eesti Laul average is 144.
