The BBC has confirmed it will participate in Junior Eurovision 2023 in Nice, France this November.

Its not clear yet whether it will be an internal selection like last year or whether it will be via a National Final.

Honestly, I can't see them doing a National Final. They might do an NF as a pilot for doing that for the main contest, but I think they are gonna keep it in-house for the time being.

I think Lee Smithurst hinted at doing a NF for JESC in the future.

For the first time ever, all the big 5 countries will perform in the same edition of Junior Eurovision. It never happened before in the history of the competition.

The United Kingdom's JESC 2023 entry will be released on BBC Radio 2's The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Thursday, October 19 between 6:30 and 9:30 am BST.

They just played a snippet. Apparently it’s a girl group (3?) . One is called Maisie. It starts off talking/harmony then suddenly changes to pipes and a thumping beat. They will play it in full later, after her show and on the next one (Vernon) sometime. Dont know why they couldn’t play the full track because they waste a lot of time talking crap.

I disagree about it being flat, its actually quite catchy, I do like the flute sounding parts, I feel that stands out.

Overall its a very good song, and I think its going to be in the top 5, whether it goes better than that or not depends on the staging imo.

Seems like the reaction has generally been very positive.

It isn't as good as I'd hoped... not horrendous by any means but just not great

It will do well imo, its a very ballad heavy year so I think it probably makes our song stand out a bit more.

It terms of staging its been confirmed Dan Shipton is doing the staging again this year at JESC, like last year.

This is a really weak year. I think this could do well depending on performance. But the song is weak as Biden. After Freya I was expecting another amazing song. Last year should have been a U.K. win until Freya got ill and couldn’t perform properly.

I’m still amazed how France beat Armenia last year 🤯

I’m looking forward to seeing them tomorrow on CiN and on strictly on Sunday… it will give me an idea as to how good the performance and staging will be
