第二百二十二回「ネイション・ソング・コンテスト」歌合戦
決勝戦

Nation Song Contest 222 Grand Final
二・二・二
Celebrate the grand final of this edition's Nation Song Contest!

 At last, the dark night sky gives way to a golden dawn, as we approach the final leg of our NSC 222 journey.

 In the semifinals and their results, we focussed on our comrades who "just missed out", and bade them a fond farewell while celebrating both their failure to qualify but at the same time, their success in what they did achieve regardless. However, now those fun and games are over.

 The grand final of the 222nd Nation Song Contest is finally the chance to crown a new member to join the esteemed league of 221 winners that came before it. 28 nations and their representatives are here to battle it out for the coveted prize. Yes yes, we like 11th and 7th, and even that 2nd place silver medal has had a lot of attention lately. But we know full well that the top prize is that golden, shining number 1.

頑張ってください, good luck to everyone!

 Please enjoy this final opening video, featuring NSC 222's flag parade, a medley of the most recent, highest and closest "just missed out"s in NSC history, culminating in Yaponesia's own nearest miss, NSC 128's silver-medallist Lo-Fang, with 'Look Away'.

 And now, onto the 28 finalists. Unleash the fireworks, and let's get ready to go!

@Finalists

I’m looking to use new postcards for the final (LL and results show) so this time, if you have your own personal choice for your “just missed out” entry, please send it to me
(It can be from any placing, except 1st, screw them)

PLEASE SEND ME YOUR CHOICE BEFORE SATURDAY EVENING (21/10).
[preferably not via PM if possible so I can save inbox space for precious votes]
Otherwise, I will pick one for you.

@Non-qualifiers

I will also use personal choice “just missed out” entries for the final scoreboards. You guys have a bit longer, so if you have a new choice you can include them in your vote PM.
(Again, any placing is fine, preferably underrated nonqualifiers etc)

This entry was 2nd in semi, 2nd in reju, 2nd in WL, and received a record number of 10s (individual 2nds). Does it count?

I choose this as another "just missed out" entry. It finished in 7th place back in NSC 181, just 3 points shy of PQ range - but then I got lucky and was promoted to PQ status in 182 after Godric's Hollow (who finished 3rd in 181) withdrew

For the Waiting Iist of Shelley & Nici's just missed out we are choosing the iconic Seda Sayan remix from NSC 127 which was expected to flop but had literally every voter for it in the right semi and missed out on qualifying by exactly 1 point. With a huge tie around 10th-11th.

Seda Sayan - Serefsiz Adam (oguzhannnc remix)

A close runner up would be NSC 91 when I only got 15 points and came 16th in the semi, however just missed out in reju in that mess of an edition.

For me Higher Ground is already the one that got away. I've finished second four times, but twice it was by a significant margin and the fourth time really took me by surprise. Higher Ground was my obsession that summer and I while I was shocked and amazed it was 2nd I still feel a little gutted it couldn't go all the way.

If you're picking something else it's hard to look past the aforementioned fourth time I was runner-up. Six points away from winning with a two-tempo Georgian folk song xrose

For Doire's JMO choice for the final, I went with my only 2nd place finish that was disappointing. For context, the winner was Laleh - Colors and it was such a close vote (215 vs 212 points) that I think I lost on the final voter, and Laleh had already won twice in recent editions. To finish such a close 2nd behind what was basically an NSC winning machine with a song that was an obsession at the time (I sent it before the hype, I had loved the song for months before when I first saw it appear on bandcamp, before even the iconic music video was released) was bitterly disappointing. Obviously nothing against Laleh or Pigeon Island, but a loss that left me feeling a bit bitter.

As a fun side point, I have a joint-record 7 runner-up medals and here is my ranking of songs that won over me:
1. New Acadia 115: The Family Crest - North
2. Perryfornia 142: Chvrches - Bury It
3. Cherniya 109: Anna Rossinelli - Shine In The Light
4. Lukeland 153: Sigrid - Strangers
5. Kostanovia 77: Lana Del Rey - Born to Die
6. Pigeon Island 102: Laleh - Colors
7. Pigeon Island 87: Hampenberg feat. Jesper Nohrstedt - Glorious

Hi everyone,

I've finally updated the final show! I'm so sorry it's taken this long. This week was so much busier at work than last. I kept intending to update things after I got home at night but fell asleep every time ;_;

ANYWAY, everything is live now and I will also go about checking everyone's votes so far!

I have also extended the deadline by one day, as I had results planned for Sunday in any case.

NEW DEADLINE: Friday October 27th, 23:59 CEST

Enjoy!
