第二百二十二回「ネイション・ソング・コンテスト」歌合戦
準決勝㊁

Nation Song Contest 222 Semifinal 2
七・二・十一
Celebrate the Yaponesian autumn festival, Shichi-ni-juichi

What is the Shichi-ni-juichi festival? The name comes from the Japanese for the numbers 7 (shichi), 2 (ni) and 11(juichi), and it is based on the Japanese festival shichi-go-san (7-5-3). In the context of the Nation Song Contest, Yaponesians honour 2nd, 7th and 11th placed songs from NSC's history.

Yaponesian schoolchildren also celebrate this festival, and in a hardworking, high-pressure culture, the festival and its messages can mitigate and make up for a close miss or loss. In fact, come autumn-time, some Yaponesians prefer to just miss out on or lose something, believing it to be a sign of good luck. Indeed, in ancient Natia history, records were kept on 'Just Missed Out' points in the Nation Song Contest.

So, which nations will have good luck in the appropriately named NSC 222 Semifinal 2? Perhaps your nation, like the Yaponesians celebrating today, will be content with any position, be it a victory, a last place, or even a close call. By celebrating and appreciating situations which we thought were 'unlucky' in the past, perhaps we will be able to enjoy and appreciate the music and the contest more. So, go forth nations, and strive for those 'just missed out' points!

ヤポネシアへようこそ, welcome again to Yaponesia!

Last edition's 2nd placer joins us today in this second semifinal of the edition honouring all things second. After everything that happened, perhaps the 2nd placer was the lucky one in the end?

And now, let's move on to the songs from NSC 222. For this show, each song was accompanied by a short postcard from a 'Just Missed Out' entry in that nation's history. Check the medals to the right of the banner to see the featured postcard entry.
(Banners all link to the NSC 222 entry. I'll post a playlist of the postcards later.)

@takeru @Veronika the ::rah video was coming up saying it wasn't available. Might just be a Thailand location issue, but sharing this version as an alternate that worked for me:

Ahhh interesting! Yes the same is the case in Japan. But I checked with two European members and they said the link was fine so I’ve left it in.

Yep figured it was maybe an Asian region issue. xup

Just sent all votes to takeru - provided some nice pool listening for me this morning. Both semis have gold cuts for my taste, but overall I enjoyed Semi 2 better. Will my final :12: be from that one know... Who knows... xthink
