Despite all the drama with the government — our yearly story with some countries — I think this one is good. It’s touching my skin in a nice way, her vocals are good, and honestly, I don’t get why this is ranked so low by others.

For me, it’s more than a solid entry, and I’m giving it 8 points.

Watched the video again and really struggling now to see a viable path to qualification. The song isn't instant at all, there are other slow songs for voters to choose from, there aren't many obvious friendly votes, and SF2 is looking like a bloodbath.
It might be the most clear NQ this year. I don't see it as dead on arrival but it feels the closest thing to it, in SF2.

This is one of those, the more I listen to it, the more I am starting vibe with it. I know this is not groundbreaking and I know that it is slower, but I am just feeling it. The same thing happened to me with 'Voila'. Before anyone murders me in the comments, I am not comparing this TO Barbara Pravi, just that I did not vibe with Voila at first but now it is one of my all-time favorites.

Mariam's voice is pleasant to my ears, like silk. Of the slower jams this year, with the exception of France, this is by far my favorite. This is my sleeper for the semi. Not saying this will guarantee make it, but I see a world where it could and that is a world I want to live in lol.

Might be the most forgotten entry this year. Hardly anyone is talking about this one, either here on other platforms.

The way I voted for this initially hasn't sat right with me, mainly because it shows a total lack of consistency on my part. I gave a flat 0 for everything politically motivated about this entry, while with others this year and in the past I have overlooked that and voted purely for the music. I'm not a particular fan of the song regardless, but i'm gonna alter it from a 0 to something a little higher.

I was a bit harsh on it initially. It's not a terrible song. Still not seeing where it would get support to qualify.
If juries were still in the SF it might have a chance at qualifying...

I think it's pretty bad and clearly in top 3 worst Georgian entries for me, the beginning got my hopes up but then the pompous tunelessness of the song is prominent and the thing doesn't feel genuine at all.

Today it was :ge: turn at the ESC kompakt songchecks 2025.

The verdict of the bloggers:

Benny - I can't get into this entry. Mariam's voice is extremely strong, but that's about it. The song completely lacks structure and a good chorus. I don't know what it's actually trying to be. A Bond ballad, perhaps? It's a shame, a lot of potential was wasted here. :2:

Berenike - I really like the melody, which isn't typically continental European, but very typically Georgian. Similar melodies have been successful at the JESC many times. The choir is also interesting, with its mix of very different vocal ranges. However, I don't believe that Mariam really means and feels what she's singing. :6:

Douze Points - I like how Georgia is going its own way at the Eurovision Song Contest and not being guided by trends or supposed formulas for success. Mariam Shengelia is also a gifted singer. Unfortunately, "Freedom" is too much of a musical jumble, making it unnecessarily difficult to access the song and thus moves reaching the final far away. :4:

Giulia - For me, it falls into the same category as Montenegro: Emotive, melancholic, but dull. I do think the parts with the mystical voices in the background are cool though. :2:

Manu - "Freedom" begins with a thrilling start, the first verse, carried by various vocal sounds, makes me sit up and listen with fascination. And then... comes the chorus. Oh my goodness, who on earth did that? The incoming beat sounds like the song is still in a demo version, and suddenly the song sounds like a 0-point Eurovision disaster from the 90s. I'm sorry: :2:

The points of the other bloggers:

Chris - :1: Danio - :5: Laureen - :1: Max - :2: Peter - :5: Rick - :3:
