I haven’t watched the semis, but so far, the final seems okay, typical Melfest. No bad entries yet, but nothing particularly memorable either.

For me the Sweet N' Psycho chorus is way better than the verses. I guess it is really infectious in the part that's most important at least. Overall I like it. The horror theming goes about as hard as Scooby Doo though, but whatever. It's Melodifestivalen. Bless them for bringing a little bit of spook to the contest.
Yeah I really like the chorus, but the verses are not that good. Enjoyable overall, though and I wouldn't mind it winning if it means we don't have to send Måns.

Song 6: Erik Segerstedt - "Show Me What Love Is"
To start with, I like the introduction, which includes an electronic synthesiser and drums. The style of singing seems unusual; is Erik trying to combine jazz and rock here? The chorus is very lively and memorable; drums and guitars feature in the chorus. As far as the performance video goes, I like the colourful patterns that appeared on the background screen. Altogether not bad, but if this goes to Basel, this would be a questionable qualifier.

And Sweden gets picked on while Italy is seen as cool - while both are successful - why?

I did not bring up Måns because I thought you defended him or his song, but because of an example what differentiates Sweden and Italy/Ukraine.

As for Ukraine, yes the political situation plays a role now (more to their detriment than anything else though), but they were very successful before already, and not disliked from what I could see.
It’s the million dollar question. I don’t think there’s a definitive answer like you make it out to be though.

In situations like this in all aspects of life, you can have two people (in this case countries) do the same thing and yet one gets treated differently.

That people for you. They’re inconsistent. One country does well most years - that’s terrible! Another country does well most years. That’s fine.

There’s no rhyme or reason to it. Vocal fans have decided it’s punching bag is Sweden. I’m not sure Sweden picking differently this year or ultimately having a poor result will change that either.

Fans have become like a broken record in this regard. But with more vile abusive comments added in recent years.

They’re really pleasant. Not.

Song 7: Maja Ivarsson - "Kamikaze Life”
The introduction sounds like it’s done on an electronic synthesiser, and drums can be heard from the start of the first verse. The chorus is very lively and catchy, and is sung in a powerful manner. The synthesiser can be heard during the chorus. There is a key change before the final instance of the chorus, which seems to be customary for many Eurovision songs. Tonight’s staging included blue / magenta / white patterns on the background screen, and upward light beams. Altogether, a lively song, featuring plenty of use of an electronic synthesiser and drums. This is very much a 1980s style disco song; it reminds me of Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America”. The only question is, if this goes to Eurovision, will juries and viewers want to vote for this, or will it be seen as too dated?

Hush Hush is nice and catchy but honestly I've heard similar songs to this one being better executed

Song 8: Meira Omar - "Hush Hush"
This is an unusual entry for Sweden; it sounds more like the sort of eastern style song one would expect from Greece, Cyprus, Turkey or Azerbaijan. Many elements of this song are eastern style, including instrumentation and beat. In the instances of the chorus, I like the way the lines “Come and give me every breath, Cause I need you here now” are sung in a bouncy manner, and there are multiple instances of “Bia bia bia”. In the bridge, the words “Zeba, Jaanem, Dunya, Mohabbat” add to the eastern style; according to Eurovision World, these mean “Beautiful, my darling, world, love”. During tonight’s performance, the dancers performed a well-choreographed routine, and I liked the petal effect on the background screen for much of the song. The rising and falling fireworks near the end were the climax to this song. If this goes to Eurovision, this may get votes from Balkan and Caucasian countries.
