I've now compiled league tables of each country's performance in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. They are all available here on my blog (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html). Nemesis Nick's Blog: Eurovision Song Contest League Tables 2012 (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html)

There are actually three tables.

Table 1: (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html#MostTopTens) each country has been awarded 12 points for each time it's won, 10 points for each time it has finished 2nd, 8 points for each 3rd place, down to 1 point for each time it's come 10th.

Table 2: (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html#AverageByFinal) as above but the totals have been divided by the number of times the country has appeared in the grand final (N.B. Grand final means the single show that happened 1956 to 2003, and the grand final from 2004 onwards). This excludes years from 2004 to present in which a country entered a semi-final but failed to reach the grand final.

Table 3: (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html#AverageByEntry) as above but the totals have been divided by the number of times the country has entered, including years since 2004 when a country failed to qualify from the semi-final it participated in.

Interestingly despite the UK's run of bad results most years since 1999, it is still highly placed in all three tables; top of table 1, 4th in table 2 and 3rd in table 3.

Feel free to comment on these league tables here.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my league tables on my blog. In what respect do some countries surprise you? Which countries surprise you the most?

Belgium has higher statistics because of the French entries.

France has higher statics than Belgium....

I meant that Belgium was doing better when they sent songs in French, and not in Dutch.

It's now a year since I launched this thread, and I see it's been dormant for a while. Now that the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 has been and gone, I've just finished compiling updated league tables of each country's performance in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest from 1956 to 2013. They are all available here on my blog (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html). Once again this thread has unsurprisingly been dormant for nearly a year, but rather than start a fresh one, I think it's better to re-use the thread I first lauched two years ago. Now that the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 has been and gone, I've compiled updated league tables of each country's performance in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest from 1956 to 2014. They are all available on my blog by clicking the following link.

Table 1: Most Top Ten Places (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html#MostTopTens)
Each country has been awarded 12 points for each time it's won, 10 points for each time it has finished 2nd, 8 points for each 3rd place, down to 1 point for each time it's come 10th.

Table 2: Average By Grand Final Appearance (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html#AverageByFinal)
As above but the totals have been divided by the number of times the country has appeared in the grand final (N.B. This excludes years from 2004 to present in which a country entered a semi-final but failed to reach the grand final.

Table 3: Average By Years Entered (http://nemesis-nick.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/eurovision-song-contest-league-tables.html#AverageByEntry)
As above but the totals have been divided by the number of times the country has entered, including years since 2004 when a country failed to qualify from the semi-final it participated in.
