Well, if she comes back, I'm hoping for a much better song. But yeah, I highly doubt it as well.

Other singers that I would like to see next year are Myron, TinkaBelle and Anna Rossinelli (although I would rather see a new face). I'm especially thrilled about Myron. Is there any chance to see him on Eurovision stage?

Switzerland said a few years back that ESC is really cheap for them and that they'll be sticking around for the forseeable future. They'll be in in 2013 unless there's a really drastic change in opinion, which I doubt.

They were contenders to be 11th in the semi, realistically, so it's not all bad.

It's true that "Il Pleut de l'or" was such a musical gem! ...

I was surprised Sinplus didn't qualify actually. I'm not a fan of rock, but their performance was excellent. I think it deserved to qualify instead of Hungary.

‘Die grosse Entscheidungs Show’ will be held on 15 December.

composers and artists can upload their potential Eurovision entries to SF’s ‘Eurovision Platform’ from 1 September.

4 songs will be chosen through public vote & juries. Broadcaster RTS will pick 3 songs & RSI 2 songs.

I'm so glad that they decided to keep the same concept. Well, not because it's especially successful, but because it's usually the only one that starts so early. Well, actually I really loved their 2012 and 2011 NFs so I really can't wait!

I'm also glad that we'll hear full songs in ‘Die grosse Entscheidungs Show’ again, because I didn't like the whole "only 2 minutes idea".

Well, it isn't 100% official, but it surely looks like it's going to happen.

The number of songs (in NF) was decreased back to 9. In 2011, there were 9 songs in ‘Die grosse Entscheidungs Show’ and we heard their full version. In 2012, there were 12 songs in NF, that's why we heard only shorter versions.

Source: Switzerland: Selection Procedure to kick off on 1 September | escXtra (http://escxtra.com/2012/08/selection-procedure-to-kick-off-on-1-september/)

In additional, regional broadcasters RTS (three songs) and RSI (two songs) will each search for ‘strong entries’ that will also make the main final, taking the total number of songs up to nine.

Not keen on either. I'm not normally a fan of guitar-wielding male singer-songwriter types. John Haenni had an uphill battle with me to begin with. I found him smug.

Oh No! (mi corazon) by United Passion feat. Lyane Leigh stated promisingly, but the cheesy rapping took it rapidly downhill.

Abacay - Have you ever touched a rainbow: I like it actually :) I'd like it more if vocals were good too.
I L A R Y - Voglia di Vivere: Not fond of it.
John Hänni - I Can't Shut Up: Not my kind of song at all.
Claudio Raj - Shizzophrenia: 0/10
Jam Sheriff - One big family: Beat is not bad really, but song is not enough to qualify, and autotune will not help this for sure.
United Passion feat. Lyane Leigh - ...Oh No! (Mi corazón): Started really good, but when rap thingie sounded, song became bad. But Lyane is good euro-dance singer. 2/10

I L A R Y - I like the chorus of it she needs to improve the voice o.O
Jam Sherrif - No thankyhuu!

United Passion feat. Lyane Leigh - The rappers are a crap version of Timati, and Lyane Leigh should join someone else instead or perform as a sololist maybe be like a crappy DEV? ;)

The Eurovision Song Contest preselection season has already started for the eurofans and artists alike. From the 1st of September 2012, any song published on or after this date is able to represent a country at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest, to take part in Malmö (Sweden) on May 14, 16, 18, 2013 and Switzerland has already started it’s selection process, with the same procedure as previous years.

My current ranking:

1. John Hänni - I Can't Shut Up
The song sounded promisingly from the very beginning. It's definitely my favourite one out of the 8 songs that were already submitted, because it's so cheerful! It's also very simple, but has a nice "twist" - a faster chorus. I love the integration of some national elements and the lyrics suit the melody perfectly. Production is fine, but it can still be improved. With some improvements (actually, even without them), I think that this song should qualify to the NF.

Current ranking: 9/10

2. Abacay - Have You Ever Touched A Rainbow
It looks like Abacay tried again, which is a good thing. Although their song isn't the best composition I've ever heard, it's still a decent song that's among my faves. The verses are pretty bland, but the chorus is exactly the opposite - it's very catchy. With a better production, I wouldn't mind this qualifying to the NF. Well, it all depends on the other songs that will be submitted.

Current ranking: 8/10

-----------------------------------------------------------
3. United Passion ft. Lyane - … Oh No! (Mi Corazon) = 7.5/10
4. I L A R Y - Voglia Di Vivere = 7/10
5. Claudio Raj - Shizzophrenia = 6/10
6. Jam Sheriff - One Big Family = 5.5/10
7. Flo & Raf - Stand Together = 5.5/10
8. Lowell Lawell - Love Symphony = 2.5/10

I'm personally on team Goga Sekulic . Goga will probably not make it to the actual NF, but I still support her. Why can't RTS and Pink TV do a collab and send her to ESC for Serbia, they have to do an extravagant, over the top turbo-folk number one of these years.

My ranking for today's regional NF:

1. Marilise - Nobody = 9/10
2. Theo - My Wonderful Life = 7.5/10
---------------------------------------------------
3. Ally - Catch Me = 7/10
4. Vanda Palma - La Farfalla Va = 6/10
5. Chiara Dubey - Bella Sera = 5.5/10
6. Sohalia - But Who = 4.5/10
7. N2L - Smoke Out = 3/10

I can't see any of these songs winning the whole NF, but I actually like "Nobody" very much. "My wonderful life" is quite good as well.

I think that these 2 songs should qualify to the NF final.

So, we already know 5 songs that will compete in the Swiss NF. Here's my current ranking:

1. Nill Klemm - On My Way = 8.5/10
2. Nicolas Fraissinet - Leve-toi = 7.5/10
3. Ally - Catch Me = 7/10
4. Carrousel - J'avais rendez-vous = 6.5/10
5. Chiara Dubey - Bella Sera = 5.5/10

All these songs are OK, but none of them sounds like a winner to me ... They are all nice, but sooo forgettable. If I had to choose the winner atm, it'd be "On My Way". It's a song that I like the most and a song that imo has the biggest potential. I don't know, it doesn't really "wow" me yet, but after the revamp ... maybe.

However, I think that the winner's hiding in the SRF's bunch of songs! :)

Ralph Siegel and Lys Assia are throwing a hissy fit.

Lys Assia has refused to give television interviews, spoken of her dismay, and threatened to find another country to sing for

I am disappointed and shocked, and really cannot believe it. I am thinking I should represent another country.

And this is what Mr Ralph "Outdated" Siegl had to say

“I’ve said from the off that this obscure online selection, that no-one apart from a few young fan clubs (but definitely not older people) understand, gave Lys no chance of making the final”.

He also insists to give Lys a Wildcard spot in the Final. I wonder what the reasoning would be behind that. Cause he's Ralph Siegel?

Gay groups in Switzerland call for boycott of the Salvation Army Band.
"Eurovision and fans belong together like ABBA and Sweden do", the paper says, but that is exactly where the problem arises. In May last year the Swiss Salvation Army, a Christian organisation, dumped one of its members because of her homosexuality.

“The Eurovision Song Contest is not the right stage for the Salvation Army,” Beat Stephan, the chief editor of gay magazine Display, tells the newspaper. Stephan asks for a boycott of the song, as long as the Swiss Salvation Army does not dissacotiates itself from their homophobic legacy.
“I wouldn’t like a homophobic organization as a representative for Switzerland abroad,” said Eveline Mugier from a Swiss lesbian organisation.

I knew that the Salvation Army is quite homophobic in the US but I'm surprised there is a similar vibe in Switzerland. Without turning this into a political discussion it's going to be interesting if this is going to have any impact on the outcome.

My comments:

Anthony Bighead: «Do The Monkey»: This is a funny song, and I prefer it over mediocre songs for sure. Can be very funny and entertaining on stage! It’s cute and not something to hate, judging it as a joke entry of course!

Heilsarmee: «You and Me»: Just an ok song, nothing special.

Jesse Ritch: «Forever & a day»: This is a good song, I’m not amazed by it, though (at least from the first listening). Reminds me of Bruno Mars!

Melissa: «The Point Of No Return»: Not a fan of this. Sounds dated, and the chorus reminds me of “hurts, oh it hurts, really hurts, in the middle of the night…”

Carrousel: «J’avais Rendez-vous»: I really like this band and this song is so cute, not a usual stuff for ESC at all! Rooting for this! xheart

Nicolas Fraissinet: «Lève-toi»: Reminds me of Coldplay in a way, don’t know why. It’s an ok song but I don’t see it doing well in ESC. The chorus is very weak IMO. Rest parts are ok.

Nill Klemm: «On my way»: This is too mediocre. Doesn’t give me the desire to listen to it again.

Ally: «Catch me»: This is terrible.

Chiara Dubey: «Bella Sera»: This is sweet. It can have a nice and simple performance in ESC, her with a cute dress and a nice background!

Chiara Dubey is so underrated, that song is sweet and sincere, a nice little song that can have a great atmosphere on stage, if it's performed well of course.

The four-member jury panel for the Swiss national final has been named today. SF tells that the judges have different European roots and that they will comment on the performances during the show. The winner will, however, be selected by audience who can vote for their favorites.

The jury includes Sanna (21), daughter of the Swedish ambassador in Bern, Danijel (25) who is a Eurovision fan and student, Claudio (22), barber from Zürich and Mali (46) who is a musician from Olten.

Also the running order for December 15 show has been determined and it is as follows:

1. Ally – Catch Me
2. Nill Klemm – On My Way
3. Anthony Bighead – Do The Monkey
4. Nicolas Fraissinet – Lève-Toi
5. Jesse Ritch – Forever & A Day
6. Carrousel – J’avais Rendez-Vous
7. Heilsarmee – You And Me
8. Chiara Dubey – Bella Sera

There are set rules, you have to be part of the enternment industry of some sort in order to be on the jury. Singer, songwriter, producer etc.

I think It's a little more grey than that. Plus, I'm not sure that is the best reason to support an act in a music competition.

After listening again to all the songs, I'm still behind Melissa, but she might end up sucking live, so who knows.

I think Carrousel would do pretty well in Eurovision. Better than Heilsarmee. Heilsarmee is catchy but I can´t really think of a stage performance that would benefit them. Probably they would just have to stay there as a normal band. And the song would become too repetitive after a while. Carrousel, on the other hand, have the possibility of having a simple performance but very effective. The song is also very "French-like". If they pass to the final, France will like them a lot xD

P.S.: I don´t know why but I everytime I listen to Carrousel´s song what comes to my mind are those type of musical movies with Louis Garrel >.<

They can have a similar performance with their ESC NF song, simplicity is the best for such songs!

I think Carrousel would probably be their best choice too. I mean that could fail too but I think Heilsarmee has more of a chance to fail.

Do the Monkey: No. Just No. Nul points
You and me: I really didn't want to like this because I'm usually against gimmicky acts, but...it's just too catchy, powerful, it gives an impression; if Switzerland sends this, they could actually achieve a decent place. 12 points
Forever and a day: A li'l underlooked: Nice voice, nice rhytm, sounds like something I could really listen in some real world charts. Not my favorite, but if this ends up winning, it would be fine for me. 7-8 points (I'm still undecided)
The Point of no Return: Middle-of-the-road dance pop. Not bad, not good, and certainly, not memorable. 5 points
J'avais rendez-vous: A nice, lovely french-style song. My second favorite in the competition. Not as catchy as "You and me" but technically superior in lyrics and arregements. 10 points
Lève-toi: An alright song, better than I expected. The big deal is that I'm not sure if Eurovision it's the right stage for something like this. 7 points
On my Way: Cool, stylish, catchy to some degree, but more like the "B" side of a real single. Not bad tough. 7 points
Catch me: Way way too old-fashioned and tacky for me. 1 point
Bella Sera: Not memorable. Nothing against ballads, but this ballad just doesn't give me an impression. 1 point.

So, my veredict: My ideal winner would be Carrousel, but...damn it, Heilsarmee it's catchy as hell.

I could live with almost any song as long as they're not that obnoxious monkey song or those last two ballads.

"Do the monkey" comes straight from the 80s! I'd love to see the choreography and the dresses they have prepared for this. :D
Chiara Dubey sounds a little like our singer Carmen Consoli.
Ally has a sexy voice. I'd like to see her.
