Coral plesse..¡¡¡ She was so robbed in 2011, if Pastora make a good result, she might keep the good results ;)

Actually that was in 2010 but I totally agree with you. I highly doubt that she'd give it another shot though, she was quite disatisfied with the outcome.

Guys really... i don´t know how much do you like Coral. She acted like a child when she lost her last Spanish NF. I prefier Monica Naranjo XD.

Who knows, maybe on 2013 singers like Malu, David de Maria, David Bustamante, Chenoa... think to go to ESC. They are friends of Pastora XD.

But in my opinion a song like La Oreja de Van "La niña que llora en tus fiestas" can rock on ESC xd.

I'd love Enrique Iglesias in Eurovision, but as it seems hardly possible I would ask to Ruth Lorenzo. I think she would make a great live performance, and she can rule any kind of song.

I would love to see a summer hit from Spain next year. Not something stupid or cliché like "Brujeria", more something along the lines of "Dime" or "La Noche Es Para Mi" (although I'm not a huge fan of the latter).

Well his own father Julio Iglesias was Spanish representative in Eurovision 1970, I hope he has heard of it. He got 4th position with "Gwendolyne" song.

It's that sharp on Wednesday was the director of entertainment of the public broadcaster, Carlos Mochales, during the press conference of "farewell" Pastora Soler hours before leaving for Baku (Azerbaijan) which represent our country on 26 May with the ballad Stay with me . "Now we have another budget, but we do not contemplate stop broadcasting the Festival. We want to have in our grid," said Mochales.

For his part, deputy director of Festivals of the chain, Federico Llanos, justified the more than 250,000 euros that TVE has to pay to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to participate in the competition as a finalist. "If there were no team in the end, not interested. What we gain being in the Big Five is the possibility of being in the final." He explained that this year will not be issued the second semifinal because it has fewer hearing and above all, because there are costs of satellite and domestic production of TVE.

However, the fee paid to the EBU is not only just to ensure the participation of Spain in the festival. It also allows the possibility of accessing TVE educational programs, documentaries and animated series co-production, and pictures for information and negotiation of certain broadcasting rights of sports broadcasting.

Compared to other programs in the chain, which costs half Eurovision program Time for Jose Mota (just over € 500,000) or almost three times less than a chapter or Remember when Red Eagle (700,000 to 900,000 euros .) Also to be noted that the final of Eurovision chain contributes to large audiences, like last year when he scored 4,172,000 viewers (28.9% share), with a peak audience of 5,963,000 votes for viewers (39.7% share).

A special role

But leaving aside the economic issues, Mochales again wanted to thank Soler their participation in European competition: "It is very important that professionals and support Pastora Soler Eurovision" he said. And it was very optimistic about the possible position you will be the young singer: "I have a hunch that this year we will be well in Eurovision . If we win, we will be very close to winning. "

Optimism with which also travels to Baku Jose Maria Inigo, who repeats as commentator after Düsseldorf last year, for whom the award is "to sing before millions of viewers ":" I am delighted to return to Eurovision is something spectacular. And it is very difficult to win but we are confident that Pastor will make a special role. "

Can we see at least Amaia Montero???

ParadiseES

Unfortunately, we will not see Amaral in ESC either :(
It would be awesome cause they're one of the best bands in the Spanish scene, and cause they would be the second ESC participants from my region (Aragon), after David Civera in 2001.

Amaia Montero is not impossible though, but it wouldn't be next year since she's busy with her new album right now. But her songs are much weaker than La Oreja's.

Amaia's solo career is pretty boring IMO.
But I'd love LOVG, they're so good! Unfortunately they've never shown any interest in the contest.

If we were 10th with Quédate conmigo I think it will be pretty impossible for Spain to reach top 10 again. Maybe we could try to sing in English, not all the song but it could give points to us. And please, English for adults not 'come on and shake me, come on and take me' or 'I love you mi vida'. Or be ready for the bottom once again :D

but please stick at Spanish!
It's such a lovely language!

2nd June 2012, 22:45
But people love Spanish language, why to try in English? I heard many people discussing about the Italian entry this year being mostly in English, and they were very disappointed, because people love to listen to songs in Spanish & Italian...

Celia
3rd June 2012, 00:54
I don't want our representative to sing in English, no way! I'd even love many other countries to stick to their native languages.
We have seen this year that a good artist can take us higher on the board...we just need THE song to have a chance, and it should be in Spanish, as always.
(Just look at this year's top 10! Estonian, Albanian, Serbian, language from Udmurtia (grannies' language, I don't know how to write it), Spanish, and a little bit of Italian. There's no need of singing in English)

ayzelto
4th June 2012, 01:18
I like Spain trying with Spanish too. I love Spanish as well, but it hasn't worked very properly during the last years... And after seeing how Quédate conmigo was 10th deserving to be in the top 5 I realized that maybe we could try with English, to see what happens.
Don't suffer anyway, I really doubt that Spain will ever send a song in English; I can't see TVE doing that

ParadiseES

Our ESC song must represent Spanish music scene and 80% songs are in Spanish. However, I want the best song to represent us and I don't care if it's in Spanish, English or Mandarine Chinese.

I don't want out songs to be translated into Spanish because we HAVE TO sing in Spanish, neither to be translated into English to have more chances.

Gnowall - sorry, Spain is one of my favourite countries, but with a song like this we would probably see another bottom 5 for Spain. I dont think Europe would fall for this. Remember - even the lyrics might sound good in spanish; few of the voters or juries will actually understand.

Gnowall
9th September 2012, 22:41
Is the tipical mistake... we dont know exactly what send to ESC. Something tipical spanish or something uptempo? And the languages is not a problem if the juries does´t understand anything (maybe for the televoters yes). IMO TVE must not send another ballad, two ballads on consecutive ESCs can be a bad strategy.
I was thinking something like Dover, but they only sing in english... and you know, we traditionaly send spanish songs to ESC :D
Lets see who is going to be the winner of the spanish esc fansite this year (eurovision-spain.com).

Malu has been chosen as the fans’ favourite to represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Our partner website eurovision-spain ran an online poll La eleccion interna where they asked their readers to select their favourite candidate to represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Various Eurovision personalities representing media, Eurovision websites, composers, along with former Eurovision artists and composers, Eurovision commentators were invited to act as a special jury including Esctoday.com!

Fans and readers were invited to propose their favourite artists to compete in La eleccion interna, hence from August- October fans had a chance to propose their favourite acts. Then a special jury consisting of 25 Eurovision specialists shortlisted the acts from 318 to 100. For the first time both the special jury and readers were respnosible to choose their favourite candiate! Last year eurovision-spain’s readers chose Chenoa as their favourite candidate.

Malu is among Spain’s sought after artists, enjoying great fame and recognition. Currently the Spanish artist is working in the Spanish version of The Voice ( La Voz) as a coach, the show is aired on private Spanish television channel Telecinco.

The Top 12 finalists in the poll:

1: Malú: 3.527 votes
2: Mónica Naranjo: 3.515 votes
3: La Oreja de Van Gogh: 3.102 votes
4: Pablo Alborán: 2.895 votes
5: Chenoa: 2.690 votes
6: Mirela: 2.673 votes
7: Diana Navarro: 2.494 votes
8: Rebeka Brown: 2.476 votes
9: Pastora Soler: 2.417 votes
10: Rosa: 2.094 votes

I love "Donde esta el Amor" from the new one, but if i could choose i think "Me iré" or "En los brazos de ella" would be good choices for Esc. If Tom Dice with "Me and my guitar" got a good position in Esc, Pablo Alboran can do the same, because he has a special voice ;-)

I don´t compare Pablo with Tom. I just meant we dont have to worry about a man singing a slow song alone, since there have been others guys doing it and having good results, like Tom and Ott Lepland. ;)

Anyway, im thinking about a group that i would like to see representing Spain in Esc too. I think my country never have been an example of innovation, and sending Macaco to Esc, would be original and a point of high quality and positivism. I leave here some of my favourite song of this group.

Spain will be in Malmoe and it seems we will do by internal selection. Apparently, there are negotiations going on with Warner as the three latest reps of the country at ESC have belong there and after last year´s success (well, at least in Spain for both Pastora and her entry) to be considered again an artist with a Warner contract seem to be the safest choice. Diana Navarro is the favourite of the critics if Pablo Alborán can´t do it.Diana stated a few weeks back her appeal to represent Spain one day at ESC with something with Spanish "flavour".
I hope she does, I love her, but dreams rarely come true :(

I wasn't really worried that Spain wouldnt participate in Malmø. But I am glad to hear the news. Something like Diana Navarro would be awesome! I think an internal election is a good choice for Spain. They have done some horrible choices durings these last years (Soraya, Chikiliquatre...). Pastora was fantastic - too bad she wasnt given a better song...

A pity, I was looking forward to it being him, I like his music.

However, IF it is him, he is probably contracted to shut the eff up about it until TVE would announce him officially... so everyone who would be picked would probably deny it before an official announcement.

Pablo is an excellent musician and composer who besides has one of the best voices ever in the country. As a counterpart, I would say his songs are too "ours", not of the appeal of many Europeans. Still, I don´t think he would get badly, just he´s not gonna make it!!!

That's what I, personally, want in ESC! Every country should send their music. And I don't mean traditional music. The music that the people of each country enjoy! They should stop trying to make songs that "will appeal" to the rest of Europe. I mean they should stop trying to eurovision (use it as a verb here :p) every song! There is no such thing called Eurovision genre even though when I listen to some songs I say "they "scream" Eurovision (eg Melissa's song of the Swiss NF)" but that's because we've seen these kind of songs too many times in ESC. Which brings us back to the "eurovision a song". I also got (and still get) a huge Eurovision vibe every time I hear Coral's "En una vida" and it didn't even make it to the ESC...

Does what I wrote make sense to you guys?

TVE, the national Spanish broadcaster has informed esctoday.com that the Spanish 2013 Eurovision entry will be selected via public and jury deliberation during a special televised song selection show. Last Monday TVE confirmed that Spain will compete at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden next year, and also revealed that the Spanish representative will be chosen via internal selection. TVE will once again opt for a well known artist to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest after Pastora Soler’s successful Eurovision experience in Baku.

I'm listening to Lo Mejor Esta Por Llegar and i don't know about Celtic, but they definitely sound like some kind of crossover between The Corrs and The Cranberries, only en Espanol obviously, so there's that link to Ireland like that I think will get them a lot of points from us anyway! Idk I can see them doing quite well, however not as well as Pastora Soler last year, unless they pull out all the stops and do something bombastic like MaNga did in 2010, however that seems a bit unlike them. I like them anyway!

The broadcaster has revealed further details regarding the 2013 Spanish Eurovision song selection. A total of 4 songs will compete in the 2013 Spanish Eurovision song selection. The 4 competing entries are scheduled to be released on TVE's official website early next year. The 2013 Spanish Eurovision entry will be selected via jury/televoting deliberation in a special television show aired on TVE early next year.

El Sueño de Morfeo have revealed that they already have 3 songs ready for their Eurovision song selection show. During the press conference, the Spanish representatives revealed that they are currently very busy composing songs for the contest and expect to have the 4th song ready by the end of January / early February. They are planning to submit a total of 4-5 entries to TVE for the song selection. El Sueño de Morfeo disclosed to the press that their songs will be 100 % Morfeo style and will have a Celtic influence.

I'm also waiting for guillotine, cause I think Pablo Alborán is probably the most overrated artist in Spain. I don't see the fuss on him. To me it's just a cute guy singing cheese with a slight flamenco style.

If you think Pablo alboran has a flamenco style, you have not listened many songs of him. One thing is the vibration on his voice and another is to call flamenco to anything he sings. He is a musician who knows how to mix that vibration, so used in andalusian culture, with lyrical melodies, and he is capable to mix all that with fado details and others from southamerican culture and get a nice song. Thats the point of pablo alboran: his music and the color of his voice.

Based on what I've heard from the picked act and Pablo it's 100% Pablo for me. This band sounds like a weak version of Andorra 2009

A ''weak'' version of Andorra 2009?
What's next, a ''schlagery'' version of Sweden 2003? A ''joke act'' version of Spain 2008?

You gotta admit that's it's a harsh comparison to say that a commercial, successful band sounds like a ''weak'' version of what would have been the obvious weakest Andorran entry if it weren't for the existence of their debut entry.

Too much talk about Pablo Alboran here (actually he is not the one to go to Malmø). I knew him from before, but I had to look him up again. And thanx to that I found the precious song: Perdóname; the spanish/portugese version with Pablo Alboran and Carminho is absolutely stunning...so beautiful! The two voices and the two languages go so wonderful together!

Eurovision Song Contest is the most watched non-sports show of the year in Spain but still TVE only aired the final and the semi-final where Spaniards could vote in 2012. Therefore another semi-final wasn’t aired in Spain which caused anger among fans. This year, a group of Spanish Eurovision fans start early to make sure they’d get to see all the three shows live from Malmö on TVE.

So according to Oikotimes:

All four songs will be made to public at the end of this month. It is known that one song will be up-tempo with electronic elements. Second song, according to band is going to epic and will have a rock ending. Third and fourth song will be in band’s usual style with Celtic rock and guitar elements.

I think I'm going to love them all!

Pastora's song was camp trash. I hope they will not follow this path and instead will favour good songs over famous/good singers (having both would be perfect ofc). I agree about the semi-finals though.

Its simple blatant structure, predictable and overblown buildup, lack of finesse, clichéd lyrics and so on. Each to their own of course, but I really do not want Spain from now on to be represented by Swedish calculated compositions that primary cater to the jury vote.
Spanish music can be pretty good, I see no reason to shun it. Anyway, I am rather optimistic about El Sueno de Morfeo.

Therefore TVE has asked RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) to change the date for the football match.

The Spanish broadcaster has announced that the candidate songs for El Sueño de Morfeo will be presented tomorrow, 5 February, by RTVE.es. Out of the four songs, two of them will be directly qualified for the final, whereas the third entry will be selected by the public via online voting (following the same format that was used for Pastora Soler last year). Each voter will only be able to cast one vote.

People will be able to access RTVE website and cast their vote from approximately noon CET tomorrow until noon CET on the 11th of February. Then, the two preselected songs plus the one selected by the audience will compete in a special show to be broadcast on the 26 of February from the TVE studios in Barcelona. The selection will be made by a mix of televote and jury vote.

These are fantastically arranged songs that stand out of the ordinary and foreheard refrains, and if people don´t appreciate that, then look somewhere else, cos I´m proud of these compositions. Though it´s pretty much clear ::es is never gonna win this again, and I didn´t live when they did, I think the aim is fulfilled after the impotence felt until just a couple years back when Tve didn´t promote the contest as they should and organized amateurish national finals as a formality to be done every year.
At least here we have something different on scene and a really nice effort all in all.

Contigo Hasta El Final
I think this is my favourite. For now at least. I might change my mind. Who knows? But as I said when I first blogged about ESDM, they're not my cup of tea. This song starts slowly which is something I need from them in order to like the song.

Dame Tu Voz
Uhm... no. I don't like this one. And I don't think I'll change my mind when I hear the full version.

Revolución
A good beginning, something bugs me when we hit the chorus, then it gets good in the second verse and I totally love the guitar part at 1:58. Overall I like it. Actually what bugs me is Raquel's voice in combination with the celtic music. Maybe if they used someone else's backing vocals I'd like it more...

Atrévete
I kinda like the chorus of this one but it sounds like a never-ending song. It reached at 2:07 and I thought "ok it's ending" (I didn't know it was at 2:00+) but we had another 50 seconds and for me it was too much. So I guess it's a no for this one.

At least they stuck to their sound. It's not my cup of tea but I'm glad they did it.

It's CHEF or Revolución for me. I'm closer to CHEF.

It's not about their specific sound, the melodies sound the same to me, very bland and i cannot remember any after listening to them all carefully.
I also don't like the girl's voice, it's weak, maybe it'd all sound better if it wasn't for it.
The only thing i love is celtic sound in some songs, it's really great, hope it will all sound better live when visuals added.
