No more Skopje Fest though, please.

For some reason Macedonia hasn't been doing a good job choosing the right songs. Granted, the songs competing weren't that strong in the first place but still......

2012 was a major improvement regardless of the placing (though I'm hoping for the best) so I hope that another internal choice will be made.

I guess since my favourite singer from Macedonia is going in 2012, my favourite band can go in 2013.

Ena maybe? Although I don't think her songs are for ESC so she'd have to change her style quite a bit.

But I'd absolutely love for Lambe to take part with a pop song!!

NikkiBoy

Macedonia's history: 2004-2012
::mk 2004: First time in ESC there been semifinal - They get a 10th Place and go to the final and ended 14th :)
::mk 2005: Ended 9th in SF and 17th in Final
::mk 2006: Ended 10 in SF but an 12th place in final
::mk 2007: SF 10th place and ended 14th place like in 2004.
::mk 2008-2009: 2 Years in a row FYR Macedonia would had go to the final and ended 10th in final for 2 years, but Jury saved Sweden in 2008 and Finland in 2009.
::mk 2010: Didn't qualify for third time. Ended 15th in SF.
::mk 2011: Lowest place in SF for FYR Macedonia ever - ended 16th.
::mk 2012: Kaliopi go to final and i think she got 7-6th place :) and will end at 12th in Final :)

So ::mk FYR Macedonia have complicated in SF anf qualify, but when they are in final they come in top 15 :) FYR Macedonia is in unlucky SF's :/

Yes Tamara had a great song and vocal performance at this year's Makfest. The thing is Makfest has always had better songs then the ones the participate for Eurovision. For Eurovision composers don't give their best and always do the same stupid pop-rock songs. The worst part is that MRTV goes for those kind of songs since they are mainly recorded in their studios.

They should just send a shorter version of this song to ESC. It is a nice modern ballad, and she performs it really well! :D They would only need to enhance it up a bit, so it would be even stronger.

evilperson
26th November 2012, 01:01
I think Tamara would be a good choice, this time she won't have cement blocks on her feet (Vrcak, Adrian) and she can go with a much better song in a style that suits her.

If it's Tamara, let it be another song please! And Vlatko Lozanoski is a good artist overall but I find it boring for ESC. He's like Giorgos Papadopoulos that is rumored to be the artist Cyprus will choose, and also Roberto Bellarosa is in similar style too...

I wouldn't mind her at all. I've even seen her singing live (on a political rally, long time ago!) and she is great. :D I still remember "Moden ritam" - such a guilty pleasure song, but well sang, with that special touch of Tijana. :D

Serbian tabloid scandal.rs claims Kaliopi Bukle as the 2013 FYR Macedonian representative although the newspaper has no source of their news .
No, it's a bad rumor. Kaliopi is going to publish her latest album, "Melem", in February (the second single of the album should come out...today, I think?), and I doubt she wants to go again. There are many other names circulating, such as Tamara, Vlatko Lozanovski, Lambe, Biba Dodeva and Karolina Goceva. The director of MKTV says that everything will be known past the Orthodox Christmas, as the TV is busy with making up the program for New Years (although I think, things are ready for ESC as well).

Kaliopi again!? As much as I liked the 2012 entry, I'm not a big fan of comebacks, let alone comebacks that close.

But I do admit that Lena in 2011 was just as good as in 2010, so it's about the entry. Jedward was really a one-trick pony though and their 2012 entry was bad and had nothing of the charm and character their 2011 entry had.

I agree, Elena may be older than the average artist but she has had a long and successful career (see article above). So I don't see the comparisn between the Babushks's & her at all.
As a matter of fact, I applaud the current ESC trend sending more mature singers to Eurovision. It should be an event for all ages, not 20 somethings.

I'm glad for Esma, though I can't imagine the song being good fit with Vlatko unless it is ethno.

Her attempt with Adrian in 2006 was awful, but Vlatko's sound seems to be easy listening/light pop.
It's an interesting combo, either way it'll be cool to see what they come up with.

Just went looking for her on Youtube - she looks and sounds fabulous. Her song Dzelem, Dzelem is perfection. Would love something similar from her for ESC, though I suspect she'll get something more uptempo. Still, so long as the melody is good. At the very least, this is a bold and interesting choice from Macedonia. Can't wait to hear it.

I don't really know Esma and the songs she released in the past, but I do know Vlatko Lozanoski! I love some of his previous songs, but my favourite one is:

I'm very satisfied with their choice and I can't wait to see what they will come up with! It was probably a good idea to pair him up with another singer, because his songs - although they are very good - could be overlooked on Eurovision. Good luck! :D

So, if I understood good, Esma said that she wants to represent Macedonia in the best light and that it's not important if the song is a ballad or fast song and that it's important that it's a good, catchy and memorable song that everyone will remember

Vlatko said that it's a big honour for him to represent Macedonia and work with Esma Redžepova and that he knows that this is a big project and a big responsibility

But not 100% sure tbh, I'm not that good at understanding of Macedonian

I don't think it will be a disaster, because, unlike Vlatko Ilievski, Vlatko Lozanoski has a nice and pleasant voice. I think it's a good match, because it's a match of fresh blood and long lasting experience. Let's wait for the song first and see if it is a hit or a miss. :)

This is exactly how I felt. Good song ruined by an obvious, easy, eurovision by numbers chorus. It might have been a clever move though, as many will like it because of the chorus, while others will like it in spite of it's existence. Still, more exciting than most lameness chosen so far.

I can't believe it got 18 12's... 1 point from me, just because I respect both artists.

I like this though it does get generic in the chorus. However the duo together look weird. Aside the fact that she could be his granny, her outfits make her look like some drag queen!!

I don't think there's any rule stating that duets should be sung by people in the same age range. Why shouldn't grannies sing with their grandsons, if they like? This is not even a love song FGS. And even if it were.

Her diva like garments suit her very well, as I understand she's some sort of diva in her home country. Drag queens and travestis tend to immitate this style, not the other way around.

I like this entry. I think I like the woman and the video more than the song itself though. Well done FYRM.

Should I feel guilty for LOVING this song so much?
Deeply hope they will make it to the final!

The clip is crowded with imperial architecture examples. Collunated buildings, golden statuary, great arches, you name it.
The video was shot in Macedonia, and honestly it looks grand. It fits the title of the song, but I guess people really like to look for a needle in a haystack.

I think they're trying hard to be the ESC tabloid. This article was especially insane.

could we just NOT TURN THIS INTO POLITICS.....? no need to,right...? If Greece has to worry abt other things, or if greeks want Fyrom to be called Fyrom or if greeks want to drown themselves, guess might be another story :geek:

and reposting a groundless report is of no use either, I feel.....

It's alright. Obviously nothing will be as great as Kaliopi.

Could be a borderline qualifier depending on how they present it.

This is exactly how I felt. Good song ruined by an obvious, easy, eurovision by numbers chorus. It might have been a clever move though, as many will like it because of the chorus, while others will like it in spite of it's existence. Still, more exciting than most lameness chosen so far.

Indeed... The verses and the build up are actually very good but the chorus is too weak and trashy.
They should revamp it and make it stronger in some way!

:D well it was just a joke ... It was not meant to offend someone
It's annoying that some countries try to make the contest political .... and they are the same, every year ... and no I will not call names ;)
THIS should be about music ... If one country has a problem with another country it should withdraw imho!

That's my feeling too, but seeing they've already released an expensive videoclip I think we're stuck with this version.
