So now that 41 of the songs have been chosen, who is your biggest favourite that you want to win the contest?

I will add a poll when the UK entry is revealed tomorrow, but feel free to discuss below

Trece

Why provoke people?
Tomorrow will be submitted to the UK song and will make a great poll for the winner - now it will be interesting!
A discussion is better to ban people not to swear. And that in fact would argue

Even it's not one of my favorites i'd be glad to see Sweden winning for a magnificent show next year. Besides that it'd be great to see another first time winning country such as Portugal.

ParadiseES

So far, excluding my own country (obviously I want it to win), I would be very happy if either Italy, Greece or Cyprus win. These songs give me the best vibe this year :D

And Italy has a great chance I think!

RainyWoods
18th March 2012, 17:45
The biggest joy for me would be to see Rona Nishliu of Albania win. I am realistic though and know that the chances for that happening are slim. However I feel Albania could be in for their best ever result. If Nina Zilli changes her song back to Per Sempre then id love to see her win for Italy. Shes the only person I think has a real fighting chance to beat Loreen. I wouldnt mind if Loreen won herself even but the unexpected is always more fun.

Metafeller
18th March 2012, 17:49
I would want to win my own country Turkey or my favourite entry Switzerland.
But looks like Sweden will win this year.

QwaarJet
18th March 2012, 18:04
I would say Iceland, but until I see how much Greta has butchered the final version, I'll say Sweden, Spain or Serbia.

Sean
18th March 2012, 18:08
Personally I would love to see Austria, Israel, Hunary or Montenegro win

I do realise that all four probably have slim chances now though, so my realistic support will be for Denmark :)

Wouldn't mind Sweden winning, I just think people are going too far with the over-enthusiastic support

Euphoria is way too overrated for the victory.

I very very very enjoy Cypriot song!!! xheart And that's the one that will get my vote.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing Russia winning, and, as I have already said a couple of times - Russia will win. Now, now, you can say juries won't like it, but why not? It's catchy, completly out-standing, with the good and sympathic vibe and melody, and it's veeeeeery original! :D Don't forget that juries voted for Jedward more than the televoting did last year.

So, I say Russia will win (my second fave), but I'd prefer Cyprus, of course.

I would like Italy, Sweden, Slovenia, Spain, Austria to win (for the last one I'm aware it's impossible to win, but I'll keep on dreaming):p

Now let's speculate:
I think Sweden or Italy will win.
Turkey / Serbia / Norway won't be far behind.

Probably there will be a surprisingly-do-good entry in top5, I have no idea who will be, perhaps Ireland / Russia. I would like Iceland:p
I think Slovakia will also surprise everyone, will do better then expected.

You make it sound as if Swedish-penned entries win all the time. In the past 10 years, such entries have won a whopping... 1 time (Azerbaijan 2011). In fact, the last time a Swedish-penned entry (even with a Swede only as a co-writer) won the contest prior to 2011 was back in 1999, when Sweden last won the contest.

Every year my hope goes out for a country, with a good song, who has never won the conpetition yet or did not win it for quite a long time.

So this year, my favorites are, since they have never won yet:

- SLOVENIA
- ICELAND
- CYPRUS

My favorites who did not win for quite a long time:

- NETHERLANDS
- ESTONIA
- SWEDEN

Yamarus

I will be very happy to see the following countries win ESC 2012:

- Sweden
- Romania
- Spain
- Italy
- Cyprus

I will be "meh!" if the following countries win ESC 2012:

- Serbia
- Denmark
- Germany
- Greece
- Norway

I will be sorely disappointed at the results if the following countries win ESC 2012:

- UK
- Ireland
- Russia

IMO the rest don't stand a chance, but I am probably the worst person ever at predicting actual results, so...

No, it's not a joke. I really like Montenegro's song. In particular, the music is in contrast to many top favorite songs very exciting.
The lyric is a little weak but still better than lyrics such as:

- We're going uuuuuu-up
or
- party for everybody! Dance! Come on and dance! Come on and ... boom!
or
- You know it's making me hot, baby, and I do not stop

Sweden ::se ! And I am going to tell you exactly why I think so:

For the first time since ESC 1988, I think we (Sweden) has THE best entry in a certain ESC year, so I can totally unbiased say we truly deserve to win this year. Also I think, although it's a good year in general, that the song really is a stand-out one.

Contrary to what some say, there have never been an entry like that in Eurovision before. It is very much "on-trend" (which too often is rare in Eurovision) with the current dance-club sound, and I get Guetta/Sia "Titanium" vibes out of this one. It would do Eurovision good to finally have a winner that may cross-over and actually have a life AFTER Eurovision, and not just in the memory of hardcore ESC fans, and that way add some well-needed credibility to this show finally.

Also, it does a unique job in combining a contemporary clubby pop sound, with introspective and artistry... which is very rare not only in Eurovision, but in general. This is by far NOT a "cliché" performance, which it could very well be. Also Loreen IS a very good live singer.

Sorry to the rest, but I think this is the total package and deserves to win.

Song? check!
Voice? check!
Show? check!
Originality/Aristry? check!
Hit potential? check!

BUMP.

Now that everyone has rehearsed, has your opinion of who you want to win changed? (If so, click Unvote in the top-right corner of the poll and choose a new fave).

Also if you haven't already voted then feel free to do so ^_^

It's though but based on the rehearsals seen so far I'd say Iceland, Estonia, Spain or Romania.

I want us or Iceland to win. Im wanting class this year. If it is to be a more mainstreamy entry, then Norway it is for me.

Class?

Yeah, let's put Eurovision back in those dark ages when all songs sounded like 20-30 years behind the current music (and not in a charming retro way, more like DATED ), it'll totally help the contest's reputation and credibility

Iceland is as soulless as it could get, it's extremely formulaic. In Icelandic it had some character, now... not so much.

UK's entry has soul though, in a sort of dated strict way, but still ;)

Wow you like Romania? I didn't know...

Well... I could be happy with Romania aswell :)

A Spanish or Estonian win would be a TOTAL snooze-fest next year though, although both are decent ballads.

oh c'mon you're being dramatic.
Im not. I listen to Norway now (which I was like really in love with at first) and it's great to dance to on the night, but that's it. Germany the same - it is a great song, but they're both sorta just 3 minutes of music, nothing more. Very plastic, no emotions. Iceland, certainly, is much more than just 3 minutes of song, and I feel the same about our own entry too.

Somebody is bitter they changed the language. Sorry but that's ridiculous, first you praise that song and now it's trash.
It's okay if you don't like it but it's obvious it's hard to believe that.

Oh, I like music from different epochs, and not everything "current" is good (just as not everything old is either). But there's a difference between music from back in the day, and new music being dated. ;)

Well I can totally understand if you and others think that has a dated sound. I just dont see that as being important, I dont mind if a song is dated, if it is good, which I believe Love Will Set You Free is! ;)

I agree it's different and I preferred the Icelandic version, too. But I just can't see it dropping from love to total crap. Actually 4 out of 5 songs in my Top 5 are non english songs. It's a good year for those songs IMO. So I really hope one of them is going to win.

I dunno, I guess when I really put the English version in perspective to the rest of the songs, and I gave some of the other Icelandic selection entries more listens, I realized that it's not that special afterall.

Now I would have chosen "Hugarró", that really IS amazing! (although it's a blatant copy of "Out of Touch")

One could say that that isnt too difficult! And no Im not actually expecting we shall win (really, sadly! :() though I would love us to and I think that we would deserve to. If I am honest about the position, I can see us getting anywhere from 2nd to 10th, it all depends on how strong the Jury vote is and if Engelbert can get older viewers voting in the Televote! If we finish below that, then I will be GUTTED! Iceland I dont expect to win either - I feel they may finish up somewhere like Yohanna did. Though in both this year and 2009 Iceland very much deserved to win imo!

The fact that you need biased juries to help... doesn't that say atleast a bit? ;) I mean what is a win if there's no public support? It's like a politician/party winning out of vote-rigging.. no legitimacy ;)

As for Iceland, I much prefer your entry to theirs ;)

Once again ESC Forums decide that Sweden will win. Again. They're almost always wrong. I certainly don't remeber anyone predicting last year's winners. Would anyone like to claim and prove that they forsaw Azerbaijan's victory?

I like Euphoria, but there are quite a few electro-trance-style entries this year and I think others are better, like Bulgaria.

I'm not sure my favourite just yet, but I like all of these:

Romania, Malta, Moldova, Bulgaria, Ireland, Estonia, Italy, Georgia and Spain. I think France, Denmark and Germany are okay too.

If a pure pop song wins it'll be either Ireland or Malta.
If an electro-pop song wins it'll be Sweden or Bulgaria.
If it's a folky sing-along, then Romania or Moldova.
If it's a ballad then Spain or Estonia.

There are some terrific songs this year, and some real stinkers. Of those baddies, Belgium and San Marino are probably the worst, although I particularly dislike the cynicism of the Cyprus entry.

Sweden ::se ! And I am going to tell you exactly why I think so:

I think the most Guetta-esque entry this year is Malta's, not so much the melody but the arrangement and production. It's very catchy and has a wider appeal than Sweden's. As has been proved time and again, it's not just young, hip, clubbing kids that vote on Eurovision. That's also why I think Spain and Estonia will do well. Maybe even the UK, but I hope not.

I will cry if Macedonia wins. I will be happy if Italy wins. I will join the celebration if Spain wins, if Slovenia, if Iceland, if Moldova wins, let's say I will cheer if Hungary wins, or if Switzerland wins, or if Romania wins. And I won't bother if any other country win, but believe me I will snort if Serbia wins, and believe me I will grumble if Norway wins, still believe me I will puke if Turkey wins. I will certainly complain if Montenegro wins, perhaps just perish if any other Joker wins, not to mention my dizziness if Belarus wins. You will hear me cry if Russia wins.

I will feel satisfied when Sweden wins.

I want Sweden to win sooo bad, but my thoughts is that Euphoria is much much better then Running Scared, Satelite, Fairytale, Believe, Molitva, Hard Rock Halleluleja, My Number One ETC. But i also think that the songs that always have been the best (accept in 2007 and 2005), for an example, Russia should have won in 2006, Greece was the true winner in 2008, Iceland for 2009, Azerbaijan or Denmark in 2010 (still a good winner, not the best dough!) and Sweden for 2011.

But i don't wanna go off topic. I really like Sweden, it has a new heartbreaking sound and a really cool number on the stage. But i can't vote for my own country so i will vote for ::no in the semifinal. And probably for Iceland in final

Who do I want to win... Well my thoughts are totally uninteresting for you guys, so I just say this:

It's a really great line-up this year, so I would be happy whoever wins.
Acctually I don't hope Sweden will win this year, since there will be so much negativity spreading on this forum. And it's no fun to win a competition when everybody is mad and dissapointed. So, I hope for anyone except Sweden.

Who will you vote in the Eurovision Song Contest?

I will vote for Macedonia and maybe Malta in semi 2. In the final, i will vote for Macedonia, Switzerland and Iceland of course. I mean, i'm planning to do like this. I'm sure Iceland will qualify but i doubt for Macedonia and Switzerland although juries will like them. If they don't qualify, i will be sad and angry.

I've slowly shifted my mind from Sweden to Iceland. The hype around "Euphoria" has taken me aback, and I've come to appreciate the strength of Jonsi and Salome's performance so much that I feel it would be amazing for Iceland to achieve a well-deserved first victory with "Never Forget". With Malta, Iceland is probably the country that deserves to win the most if you look at its history. Now's their chance IMO.

That being said, I'd still love to see Sweden win, because it would be interesting to see what Loreen has to offer beyond an undeniably catchy tune at the ESC: will she become a Swedish Lena?

Yes, you're right, Samb did call it correctly. Reps to her! I decided to skips through a few more pages of that thread to see if anyone else got it right. Pierre and AlekS listed Azerbaijan amongst a few others they thought might win, but apart from that, in 12 pages, I didn't find anyone saying "Azerbaijan will win". That's why I don't really believe that ESCF posters are very reliable as predicters of winning entries. ESC has always been fabulously difficult to predict, apart from Alexander Ryback!
