Source: Belarus 1 channel interview. Jon Ola Sand hinted that they invited some very famous (internationally) performer. He said that ESC is too big so it won't be faded by 1 big star.
The journalist mentioned Celine Dion for some weird reason.
I remember ITV had negotiations with Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue and Shakira as for Dance Eurovision.

ps. Still not any Celine Dion can be compared to fantastic Norwegian flashmob :D

With petrodollars, you can buy any star on this planet for a night ;)

I dont think any interval act in the past, nor any in the future can come close to the amazingness of the flashmob! :D

Frankly speaking I am against any world famous star to sing during interval act at ESC. Eurovision with its singers is pretty enough so there is no need to fill it in with some other stars (apparently from the USA).

Yes buying all superstar just for one night, might be fanciest show ever, but I don't think so this is good idea. This is just a song contest and we voting for the song but not for the artists.

Yes, it would be amazing to see Shakira, Celine Dion or any superstar but I think Azerbaijan should show up their culture, music, dance and so on.

Are there any world stars with the Azeri origin?

It's not that they can't do that with other interval acts, "postcards" etc.

^ we don't need to show world stars, we must show our culture. it isn't the World Cup to invite Shakira. inviting all these stars is simply waste of money, they could spend it on other social projects.

I guess I am the only one who doesn't have a strong opinion about the Interval acts. I get they are part of the excitement I just happen to NOT care one little bit. That's the only time I have to go to the bathroom, talk to my friends or do stuff I can't do otherwise.

And was I the only one who thought the Flashmob was blah? So I personally don't care if they bring in a big name. I'll be probably either on the toilet or digging through the fridge.

If the ESC brings an international star aboard, this could be a *massive* PR boost. ESC is still seen as an outdated relic from the 20th century by many people, who have no idea how much it has changed in recent years. However on principle I would rather see an interval act by Azeri artists.

Using petrodollars for SuperStars are wasted money.

I can understand Azeri's not wanting outside stars to be the interval act, I know I wouldnt like it if the United Kingdom ever hosts again. I think Azerbaijan should use this opportunity to showcase their talent!

The work on Eurovision 2012 stage concept is continued. The working group told APA that several versions were suggested for the stage and “green room”. The grandiose concept is elaborated jointly by the Germany’s Brainpool GmbH, official partner of the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest.
The authors said it would be completely different from the previous contests’ stages for its design, lights and other effects. The work is going on these projects.
Azerbaijani experts are preparing the concept of the contest final show to be held in Baku in May, 2012. The concept will contain the elements of Azerbaijan as the ancient Eastern country with rich history.

Oh damn. What I don't want to happen to the contest is "Americanisation". It's *European* after all (and a bit *Asian*, too, as well as *North African*)

I personally don't care much for interval acts. I'm fine with any simple act like a simple acrobatic thing or a cultural dance (certainly a break from singing, and no American stuff please)

Eurovision is not a cultural festival! You don't need to discriminate any kinds of music.
If it's such a waste of money (you don't even know how much does it cost) then refuse from ESC ;)
Believe me there are so many areas where you can spend these money instead of wasting them on entertainment!
