Jestem...
Jestem...

A gdy kłopot jakiś mam,
U drzwi stajesz pierwszy.
Teraz wreszcie pewność mam,
To Ty kwiaty do mnie ślesz co dnia

Jestem Twym natchnieniem,

Jestem Twym natchnieniem,
Dla łez ukojeniem.
(Twój świat kręci się wokół mnie)
Jesteś moim cieniem,
Na każde skinienie
(Pojawiasz się tuż obok mnie)
Jestem Twym natchnieniem,
Dla łez ukojeniem.
(Twój świat kręci się wokół mnie)
Jesteś moim cieniem,
Na każde skinienie
(Pojawiasz się tuż obok mnie, skaczesz w ogień gdy chcę)

Jestem...

Jesteeem!
Jestem Twym natchnieniem,
Dla łez ukojeniem.
(Twój świat kręci się wokół mnie)
Jesteś moim cieniem,
Na każde skinienie
(Pojawiasz się tuż obok mnie)
Jestem Twym natchnieniem,
Dla łez ukojeniem.
(Twój świat kręci się wokół mnie)
Jesteś moim cieniem,
Na każde skinienie

Tuż obok mnie

There's many rumours saying that Poland will withdraw from eurovision after yet another bad performance and countries generally not voting for us.

13th is not that bad. As far as I remember they were pretty close to 10th (all songs from 11th to 13th, of course). What could they expect after the apples and choking... :( I mean I really liked the drama but was a bit too much (I guess for the juries). We have to wait and see.

I think they won't withdraw now that the next ESC is in Germany.

Poland might withdraw. The interest is low and they have no support in this. Also TVP is really not taking this serious; their pre-selection is so bad quality.

I do hope they take part though. I wish they would really put effort next time and also chose an act internally and most important of all; really work on the entry! Most Polish entries could be potentially good but they all sounded on demo stage and would have needed much more re-work.

I also hope they won't and I still think Edyta should have won in 1994 aswell

But I'm really afraid they might withdraw

They simply doesn't have the "political" support (just as with the other central European countries such as Czech, Slovakia etc.) and they happen to be one of the countries that actually have plenty of diaspora, but those are not that fanatically obsessed about this as other big diaspora countries to care enough to vote... so who should Poland turn to?

I don't think they've been that bad... but like I've written I believe that many of their entries sounded on unfinished though.

I want Poland to be there in Germany!
But I'm not sure if we stand a chance (not because of voting but because of general quality of our songs)

It's not about TVP. You're right, they don't take it seriously and they definitely don't desire Poland to win. But as long as Eurovision gathers majority of viewers, there's no reason to withdraw.

The problem is that artists don't take Eurovision seriously. Ich Troje (2003, 2006) was our last somewhat well-known performer who wanted to participate in this contest. At the end of this year TVP will announce list of NF competitors and I doubt there will be at least one name I'd have heard about before.

Why can't TVP pay anybody to represent them instead of having the whole crap about the NF?
Can't they pay Zakopower or whoever to take part? They could even get governmental subsidy if they treated it as "promotion of Poland in the world".

They're so clueless!

I also think Kasia Wilk would be a great choice.
YafMez7Z7sc

But only with a decent song written by somebody else, even by a Swede.

I think the problem (AGAIN) is not the singer but the song.
We don't really have people in Poland who can write good pop music :(

I'd personally love to have Ramona Rey in! She's undoubtly the best female artist in PL that I heard of.

What about DoDa?

There's NO WAY Doda would want to participate.

I doubt she'd do it even if she would be internally elected.

BTW TVP really should change tactics and chose someone internally. Now there's just a bunch of nowbodies competing and no big names in Poland would want to take part also they REALLY need to work on the songs... they've sent potentially good entries almost every year but they have all been sounding like on demo-stage.

I've said this in years! That would be fantastic with the right singer!

Piotr Rubik is an amazing compuser but TVP are so dumb they don't get it.

Can we start a petition or something? Let Piotr Rubik compose something and find the right singer for it!

Ramona Rey - that would be interesting, but it may be too avant-garde for ESC.
She "plays" with polish language and accent, that sometimes it doesnt sound like polish even to Polish people :)
Anyway, she is an unique artist on polish music market.

By the way, I heard that she is known in Russia - some russian radio stations playd her songs.

TVP has confirmed it's participation at ESC 2011!

Yet again, the entry will be chosen through a national final, which for the second year in a row will be held on Valentine's Day, February 14th. This time around, however, only the televote will decide the winner, unlike in previous years, where the jury had 50% of the voting power.

All entrants must be Polish, and the composers should have at least have Polish background. From four to ten songs will be chosen for the national final, which depends on the quality of the songs. TVP reserves the right to assign wild cards.

The songs must be entered to TVP before the 21st of December, and the finalists will be announced on the 29th of December.

First of all I applaude Poland for not being bad loosers and giving it yet another try, although bad results over and over again! :D

Allthough I thought they would have learned from past mistakes finally? An internal selection is the ONLY thing that could save Poland in Eurovision now. Their national selections so far have been of so low standards it's ridiculous; C-acts with demo songs have competeted against eachother basically.

They better choose internally and have a final with maybe 5 songs or something like that.

Love it! :)

I've already suggested Brodka before, but TVP hasn't learned yet. There's no chance a popular act will take part in their b-class multiply artists selection.

Did they even change things up for the upcoming selection? I still cross my fingers for an internal selection with one act performing maybe 5 songs in a final, that way they might end up with a stronger one finally. Poland got alot of potential but TVP needs to make ESC attractive.

TVP really doesn't want Poland to win it seems? Every year it just gets worse and worse.

I feel sorry for Poland, they really need a new broadcaster taking over the selection because this is just laughable. I don't want to be mean or anything, and Poland is one of the countries I REALLY want to fare well finally, but is TVP using deaf people to pick the entries?? (and I have nothing against deaf people folks so don't misunderstand please).

Flashing Lights atleast has some potential but would need a little re-work, especially the chorus would need to be a little stronger, the other song is just as Zzzz as the rest.

Well, so far Paula ftw! :D

I'm already singing along to it ! :D

It's very Inna vs. Edward Maya and she looks kind of like Kristina from Slovakia in 2010 (without the silly costume ). She looks good, and the song is kind of contemporary and catchy but would have to be a little more clubby i'd say, it's a little weak. Overall I kind of like it I guess :)

Well if there won't come out anything better, then this should be chosen i'd say. The rest are just awfully boring.

Tonight on TVN channel we have final of polish version of "Got talent". Among the candidates to win, there is one guy - Kamil Bednarek. After his performance during the casting, whole Poland became crazy! In semi-final he got the greatest ovation. Tonight, he is the strongest candidate to win.
I wonder if he'd like to sing on ESC. His voice is simply great!

Well it all comes down to the song. A singer can be good, but with a bad song it doesn't matter. I think some of the singers in the above clips are probably good singers (technically), but their entries are so bad that they wouldn't stand a chance in Eurovision.

Actually if they work on it a bit, it could be a pretty good club song, and those aren't common in ESC at all actually. I see a potential there that you can't find at all in any of the other so far.

It's current and contemporary sounding, which also sometimes ESC fail at deliver.

Agree! Time for Poland to send something uptempo.

I ask myself the same thing? If this will turn out being the best option songwise (and something tells me looking at the rest that it might be that way), then I really hope for Poland she can sing live, otherwise you'll have to send one of the dull entries.

But actually, as long as her live singing is decent, compared to the rest, it would still be the best option. I don't see the best singer on earth saving any of the others

But something tells me Paula can't sing live though...:?

ALL these entries need to be updated though. The Uliasha is clearly still on demo stage but has a cool melody and could potentially turn into a pretty cool song and the Mistic entry is even more a rough demo, but one can hear that it's interesting atleast.

Anna Rydz seem to be the most finished one and the Paula entry is quite finished aswell, but would need some more clubby beats and stronger parts to have better effect and more potential.

The rest submitted are not worth mentioning; they are either really bad with no potential what so ever (no upgrading would save them basically), or they are just too boring or in some rare cases just too rough demos to even have an clear opinion about.

Almost all of these songs are either cheesy or boring...
I think, that Mystic is something original, something that we didn't have in ESC. We have to wait and see how they will manage to perform this song live.

I guess that Poland will be always associated with boring ballads and sh*tty ballet...:(

Not sure if this will make you feel better, but I don't associate Poland with that. I associate them with really weird entries. Ich Troje, Jet Set (how many times can you say "party" in one song?), Marcin Mrozinski: all really quite odd.

In that spirit, GO MISTIC!

If I would have to chose 10, I'd go for the following;

Good-Ok-Decent

1. Mistic - Glorifica

6. Anna Rydz - Nie masz szans

"Going to end at the bottom" is't the same as "crap", just like "going to end well" doesn't equal "good".

"Jestem" is a "take a few random mediocre pop songs and merge them together with no sense of taste" kind of work. Others aren't any better. I only hoped for a wildcard for Mistic.

Well but imo those songs are crap and offcourse ending in the bottom doesn't necessarily mean a song is crap but in these cases it is.

Jestem is a good pop song really, it is a fresh relief for Poland to be honest who send weird unfinished demos and lame ballads for the past decade. Legenda last year got alot of potential and was my favorite in Polish selection, but it was so badly produced and it never got from demo to finished song even for ESC.

Jestem is catchy and stick to your head and it feels contemporary, but most important it feels finished! The problem with Polish entries and songs in Polish national selections is that most of the songs are still on demo stage. Clearly TVP doesn't understand that there's a difference between demo and finished song.

You can't send songs that are demos to Eurovision, yet you unfortunately did just that.

I want Poland to succeed in Eurovision finally, but you need a good song to do that, there's nothing outstanding in the selection but atleast Magdalena has a well produced catchy pop song that feels up to date.

Well, we will have a variety of music styles in our national final. It would be nice to hear this kind of songs. For the first time our national final won't be boring, as it was in the previous years. Everyone says that our semi-final is very hard to pass. But if we choose Magdalena Tul, she will fight for the best position since 2006. I'm sure about it. I wonder about her performance - full of fire and speccial effects. Nice choreography is neccesary if we'd like to be in TOP10.
Our national final is on Monday, but it's Valentine Day, so maybe it was good idea to make national final 14. February (Belgium will choose entry that day too). Only viewers will be able to choose our songs, there will be no jury, so we've got 3 strong candidates at the moment: Shemoans, Anna Gogola and Magdalena Tul. Despite they're not too famous in Poland.. But the others (for example wildcards) are totally unknown. SO it will be a battle between Shemoans, Anna and Magdalena. Shemoans are knows for its presence in "Szymon Majewski SHow", but their song is the official song of the "Top Model" so it will get a lot o votes. Magdalena is the singer in show "Jaka to melodia?" produced by TVP so she will have a lot of votes too. Anna Gogola is popular because of Mam Talent. But I think Magdalena Tul will be the winner :)

No, she'll fight for your best position since 2003 if you ask me!

As for SheMoans I really don't get the appeal at all, the song is not good. Gogola is kind of fun but would struggle in ESC I think.

Magdalena is clearly your best shot at a good position in ESC this year, it is the entry with most potential.

If she pulls it off live and gives a good performance, then Poland can very well make it through the tough semi you're in and maybe even end up quite decently in the Eurovision final.

Magdalena Tul and Anna Gogola are singing very interesting songs. And I like the song from Ajda Fijal allthough I know, that it will flop. It´s very important to have an also good performance then.

She is in a league of her own within these bunch of mostly crap (sorry) songs. If Poland doesn't chose her it would be the biggest national selection crime of 2011 Eurovision season!!

The video is nothing special, but I guess it works for its purpose.

The importance is the song, and this song is THE song for Poland this year, any other song would be a mistake out of the chosen bunch.

For sure it's not groundbreaking, but as written before it works well. The chorus is catchy and addictive, the production is good, it's current pop more or less.

Atleast it's not some dull ballad or some unfinished demo, which really has been Poland's problem for the past decade.

I also think Magdalena Tul will be Poland's best choice but it just screams ESC flop to me for some reason. Their whole NF is quite disappointing as well.

I also think Magdalena Tul will be Poland's best choice but it just screams ESC flop to me for some reason. Their whole NF is quite disappointing as well.

Well, it's the best they could do out of what they have in their selection. The rest just screams "bottom 5 in semi" to me, so it's not like there's any potential there either.

Let's wait and see. Poland unfortunately is in the toughest semi with no "friends", so it'll be tough for sure.

On the other hand, I wonder if EBU wants to take the risk of a 40 million market dropping out next year (which I think Poland will do if they'll flop yet again), so the juries might actually pay attention to Poland this time around. Now don''t get me wrong, a song should get jury help based on the song and not the country, but I think it is worthy of a spot in the final.

It's difficult to speculate, but imo this would be the strongest Polish entry since, since 2003 (and I didn't like that one).

evilperson
4th February 2011, 01:42
Yes their selection is very weak! Part of the reason why Magdalena stands out I guess.
It will come down to what other countries send in the first semi. But to me, this song is easily forgettable and could get lost depending on what it's competition is.

Hmm, I dunno. The chorus is very catchy and hook-ish. I remember the chorus sticking to my head the first time I heard it. If it has the same effect on others, then it could do well imo.

I actually think the chorus is the weakest part of the song. It's quite bland imo. The verses promise much more than the chorus delivers.

The beauty of music! Everyone have so different opinions of what is good/bad, strong/weak! :)

Atleast we agree that it's the strongest entry in their selection, and it seems most people does, so there's still some sort of universal understanding about it. ;)

The truth is Magdalena's song has quite a big chance of success (by success I mean top 10, top 15, because lately Poland is not so good at ESC). She probably won't win, but she will definately prepare a good performance. She can really "flirt" with a camera, cause she has an experience in singing in TV shows. Obviously I have never heard her live (all the performances at "Jaka to melodia?" are prerecorded), but she has some singing experience and her voice is trained, so I guess there would be no problem.

Btw - I still can't get that so many people like Gogola's song. It's awful :(

Eurovision, sorry for not being clear :) I really hope she will win our final however being drawn as no. 1 in starting order does not help at all (I guess many people may watch it by switching the channels and they may miss some performances). However if enough people watched the whole contest, there is a bigger chance that these ones will vote. I will definately vote for Magda, because she is far the best.

Well, there's one thing I would like to tell about Anna Gogola. She has great, powerful voice (we could hear it during "Mam Talent"), nice appearance but her song "Ktoś taki jak ty" is silly imo. It goes nowhere and reminds me of disco-polo. Maybe in 2002 this kind of song would score high on Eurovision, but now? We have to send something fresh and dynamic. I will vote for Magda Tul too. Her starting position is quite good. She will perform in the beginning of the show, so this song will stay in memory of televoters. And televoting will start when the first song starts so Magda is not looser because of starting position. I keep my fingers crossed! Vote for Magda!

One more thing. Last night I saw the commercial for Krajowe Eliminacje in TVP1 - It was like Eurovision was their second priority there, I don't expect anything good from it. I mean it was like: "Our guests are (here are the names blah blah blah) you can send Valentine's day wishes to your loved person and it will be shown on screen, and you would choose our song for Eurovision". They even did not mention names of participants, only the names of guests :| I hope that people who want to send Shemoans will choose texting wishes instead of voting :P

Yes, it's truth. TVP makes national final in this way, beacuse of tomorrow's Valentine Day. Maybe it's good idea. More people will watch this show and vote for favourite songs as well. The guests are quite interesting, it makes the whole things better. But there is still main aim. To choose the best song for Eurovision. Indeed. The level is awfully bad. I know it's only 1/4 of the songs chosen, but still - I don't expect that everyone would start choosing the best songs now. Plus some of the preselection may not have good songs at all. I think Italy will choose a good song too, probably Sweden as usual, and I definately hope for my country :D Magda ftw!

Hehe, offcourse not! But spread the word though ;)

I seriously don't know why that SheMoand song is popular? I find it pretty crappy. The only good part is the part that is a rip-off of Lady Gaga's "Poker face", but that's just like 2 seconds of each chorus part.

adnar
14th February 2011, 13:05
^ This song is popular because of being the lead song of "Poland's next top model". The show had big ratings in Poland and was a hit of autumn in tv. Even in the video you can see running candidate girls for Top Model. The song itself is ok IMO, but definately not a Eurovision material. Would need to be revampled drastically to do something for Poland. I heard rumours that Magda will have a lot of dancing (including dancing on the floor) and there will be a queen chair on the stage. Also what I can see that the stage is very small (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr-_7KqPzUk - here you can see some video of Alizma). I suppose it will look bigger on TV because this hall of tv is quite huge and has two levels so the camera can have some angles that will make this stage bigger.

Yeah, I know about the Top Model thing, but I still find it weird how it could get popular just by being a theme song?

adnar
14th February 2011, 13:17
Well...they are also known as a group whose first song ever is..."Supergirl". I mean - they sang covers all the time because they are a theme band for the "Szymon Majewski Show" - probably the most popular talk show/comedy program on a private tv TVN (The same that had Top Model). I will watch their afternoon show today "Między kuchnią a salonem" (Between kitchen and living room) where they told first that Shemoans are the best for them etc - they will probably say something about Eurovision as well. I just wonder why they never spoke a word about Gogola - she originated from TVN as well. Maybe they think it's better to talk about Shemoans because they will get more votes than Gogola and their chances are bigger.

http://eurowizja.org/v10_news.php?id=6396 on the OGAE Poland's website you can see some pictures from rehearsals. I guess this was not a dress rehearsal (ZoSia is ill, so I suppose she wears warm clothes to prevent herself from complete illness). For non-polish speakers - here is briefly what has been written:

1. Magda Tul - very good vocal performance, even though the choreography is complicated, she has a silver chair on the stage, the stage is black and white - she starts her performance on the chair.
2. Ada Fijał - rehearsal has been late because of lots of technical problems, warm colours on stage, she looks retro and has retro pictures behind her. Performance look like Candyman by Christina Aguillera a bit.
3. Alizma - they called them "Smurfettes" because of their blue dresses, there is a blackskinned backing singer, they have violins, on the back wall there is fire from time to time.
4. IKA - normal rock song, good vocals, performance is ok, on the back wall we can see the band's logo. They play the instruments live.
5. Roan - not bad, not good - mediocre. They play the instruments live.
6. Shemoans - static performance, not much happens, but it is written that the performance catches your eye on anyway.
7. Anna Gogola - perfect vocals, good show, people loved it. Probably one of the best vocal performances. On the back wall there are hearts.
8. The Trash - vocal performance described as excellent - normal rock performance, black and white colours.
9. ZoSia - described as the best vocal this year. She has a performance with her husband, and has a great contact with cameras.
10. Formuła RC - Nice colours on stage, correct vocals.

So I guess Gogola and ZoSia are back in the game!

Shemoans sounded like Gaga's "Poker face" at some parts, Three blonds were the worst act... but others were more or less fine, and yeah Magda sounds the best. I also liked the heart in sunglasses =))
