Zemėr ti mos me ler pa fjalė
Dua t'ia them e dua t'ia marrė
Sa herė vij edhe shkoj
si frymė tė kėrkoj
Ne gjak mė jė futur pa ty s’mund tė rroj

Me bėhesh det edhe me bėhesh valė
Than njė lot edhe me ndez njė mal

Sa me deh e me mban gjallė asgjė s’me ndal, ehehej

Sa herė pėr ty e t'ja do me marr
Di tė pij e buzėn do ta lag
Sa here vij edhe shkoj si frymė tė kėrkoj

Sa me deh e me mban gjallė asgjė s'me ndal, ehehej

Sot qė kėngėn ma ke fal mė lėr ta ndaj
Nuk ka ngjyrė e nuk ka fjalė more xandar
Tokėn qiellin e bėn bashkė harron e parė

FiK 2010 underway, more details announced

The Albanian broadcaster, RTSH has announced the details of 49th edition of Festivali i Kenges 2010. This year 28 songs will be selected by the professional jury to compete in the two semi finals with no division between newcomers and established singers. Bojken Lako, the popular Albanian singer and songwriter is the new producer of this event.

Unlike previous years, RTSH decided to start this year earlier with the preparations of the Albanian national final, Festivali i Kėngės 49 (FiK) introducing changes in the format as well as the voting system.

RTSH, the Albanian broadcaster, has published the details for the upcoming Festivali i Kėngės. As usually, Festivali i Kėngės will take place around Christmas time. The semi-finals will be held on December 23rd and 24th and the grand final will be the 25th of December. There is still a possibility to add the duet night on December 25th. In that case the grand final will be replaced on Sunday, December 26th. There is no newcomers category this year.

Whereas in the past there used to be an established singers' night and a newcomer singers' one, this year a professional jury will select 28 from the total of songs submitted to the broadcaster's open call. In each semi final, 14 songs will compete and from each semi final 5 songs will be eliminated and only 18 songs will enter the grand final.

Also the voting system will be different this year. In the grand final, the songs will be judged by two juries, the central jury and the alternative jury with the representatives of local Radio Televisions.

Edmond Zhulali, the artistic director of Festivali i Kėngės 49, stated to the local newspaper shekulli: unlike last year, we have chosen this year for a system with two semi finals because it’s more attractive for the viewers and this system enhances the emotions of the participants. "Last year, we had an interesting program, but lacked emotions. The same songs were performed on the first, second and the third night." said Mr Zhulali.

The producer of this edition is the experienced singer and songwriter Bojken Lako. As customary, the singers will sing live. Because of some technical problems the orchestra won’t be fully live though. The basic music will be playback.

RTSH is going to a publish this year two Festivali i Kėngės 49 magazines with information’s of the participants, lyrics, composers. The first one will be published in Albanian before Festivali i Kėngės. The second magazine will be published in Albanian and in English after the Albanian entry is decided and this magazine will be used as a promotion of the Albanian representative for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest

I AGREEEEEEEEEEE! Albanian versions have usually sounded better for me. For instance, I love "Tomorrow I Go" and sing bits of it quite often. After I heard the Albanian verison "Nesėr Shkoj" I automatically sing it in Albanian and I kinda forget the English lyrics...

Hosts of last year's FiK, Alban and Miriam, would definitely the best choice.
Their song called "Let Me Die With You" is just amazing.

Btw, i'm sure Aurela Gaēe's song is decent :)
And about Goldi Halili, she should sing a masterpiece like "Tirana Broadway".
Last but not least, Kejsi, i want to see her in every FiK :)

ESCDaily.com can exclusively reveal the running order draw for Festivali i Kenges, which will take place over 23rd-24th-25th December at the “Palace of Congresses” in Tirana. The shows will all be hosted by Jonida Maliqi and Josif Gjinpali. The running order draw has been announced on the news programme on RTSH (national broadcaster of Albania) which can be seen for the first time on the web below.

Linda Halami has been disqualified in a press conference held by RTSH, due to poor behavior and press towards the contest, including allegations of the event being fixed in favour of Miriam Cani & Alban Skenderaj. “NRG Band” and the group “Humus” have also withdrawn from the selection. They will all be replaced by Ernis Cili, Evans Rama and Agim Poshka.

In the newcomers category, the song from Shpat Deda has been replaced by Bledi Polena.

#1 Kejsi Tola

Her song will probably be more up tempo, not a ballad. I am very sure it will be the best, but the best doesn't always win.

#2 Besa Kokedhima

she has just a great and special voice, If she does win, she has to stick to Albanian, because it suits her voice much better.

#4 Kamela Islamaj

loved her song from last year, I am pretty sure she came back with a much better song, can't wait to hear it.

#5 Alban Skenderaj & Miriam Cani

everyone says they will win, but talk is cheap and so are they.I am not a fan and I really hope they will not win. I have a feeling they will win or come very close to winning.

#6 Enkeleda Arifi

she has a Adrian Hila song,so it must be good and she will get points because of that. lol

New Eurovision vignette premiers in Albania

Geneva, Switzerland - You've already seen the holiday teaser of the brand new Eurovision Song Contest vignette yesterday. Today, Eurovision.tv is exclusively revealing the new vignette to you, which will premiere on television in Albania to introduce tonight's semi-final of the Festivali I Kėngės.
The generic vignette features the well-known prelude of Charpentier's Te Deum, well-known across Europe as the introduction to a variety of programmes broadcast through the European Broadcasting Union's Eurovision Network. The vignette is meant to be used for several years, like the generic logo, and does not replace the annual theme art, designed by the Host Broadcaster. The artwork for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest will be revealed in January.
While during those broadcasts, such as the Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Finals and Final, the traditional EBU logo will continue to feature, the EBU at the same time wants to encourage broadcasters that participate in the Eurovision Song Contest to make the heart logo with the flag part of the national selection programmes. The EBU aims to grow the recognition of the heart logo, which was introduced in 2004, and to promote the international name of the event. Traditionally, the Eurovision Song Contest is known under different names in some languages.
The governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest, the Reference Group, decided to make usage of the vignette optional in 2011. After evaluation of the impact, the group aims to make usage of the vignette to introduce national selection programmes mandatory as from 2012. Several broadcasters have already committed to using the vignette in the lead up to the 2011 contest.
The vignette was designed by the renowned German motion graphics designer Sascha Verwiebe, who won a pan-European pitch which included five companies. Verwiebe has worked for German broadcaster ZDF, Danish TV2, Deutsche Bahn, and Microsoft, amongst others. The designer was inspired by musical elements, as well as the colours of the flags of all participating countries and even made a kind reference to the so-called starburst logo, which has been used to introduce the Eurovision Song Contest until the mid-nineties.
In the upcoming weeks, the vignettes will be distributed to all participating broadcasters in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

I don't get the hype with Alban & Miriam either, their song is pretty bland and they didn't perform it well.
I think my favourite is Kamela Islami but that's just my personal taste, I doubt she has any chance of winning but who ever knows in an Albanian NF.

All of the songs this year sound a lot more modern, but a lot of them are all also very bland.
I think for me personally, Kamela Islami is the best but I seriously doubt she has any chances of winning. I sorta like Besa's song as well but I think its a little too unusual/weird.

Anyways I'm sure the winner will be something unexpected or possibly that duet from the first night that has gotten a lot of hype.

Yeah, not really. There were several songs in the Albanian NF who had potential. This one's a sleeping pill and reminds me a little bit of the 70's (the bad kind though). "Kėnga ime" is outdated and I'm just disappointed that Albania once again failed to vote for a song outside its comfort zone. It's too early to discuss their chances to qualify but my first impression is.....oh dear!

This one is kinda hard to judge. I do like the beat a bit but it's also kinda messy. I do like her voice but she's screaming a bit too much. ROUGH TRANSLATION

My Song

My heart, don’t leave me with no words
I want to say it and want to sing it
Every time I come and go, like a breath I need you
In my blood you are ingrained, without you I can’t live
(For me) You become sea and become wave
You drain my tear and ignite a longing
Every time I come and go, like a breath I need you
In my blood I have you, oh you my song
E he heeeeeeeej
Wealthy I am because I have you
I’m not in earth and nothing can stop me

Today that the song you have given me
Let me share it
It has no colors and it has no words
The walls can’t contain it
It merges earth and sky, It makes me forgive and forget)
‘Cause you carry me away and you keep me alive
Nothing can stop me
E he heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeej

Every time I’ll feel thirsty for you
I’ll come to you and moisten my lips
Every time I come and go
Like a breath I need you
(Something about a hand) and I become alive
Eheheheeeeeheeeeeee
Wealthy I am because I have you
I’m not in earth and nothing can stop me

Today that the song you have given me
Let me share it
It has no colors and it has no words
The walls can’t contain it
It merges earth and sky, it makes me forgive and forget
‘Cause it carries me away and keeps me alive
Nothing can stop me
E heheeeeeej jeeee jeeeeeeee e heee heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaj

Today that the song you have given me

I don't see how just changing the language and not a single other thing will help a song :/

Offcourse it will make a difference, but if a song is so-so it will need to be updated musically and not just lyrically, this is what first should be done and then if it still isn't "good enough" they could try change the language.

Arben
30th December 2010, 21:53
yes the entry was great in 2010, but look at what place Albania came in. Albania can never win ESC, even with good songs they always end up at the bottom. Thats why I like this song, Aurela's. its different then the other Albanian entries, so its time to experiment with more traditional Albanian music. I don't think she will change it in English, maybe she will promote the song with a English version. But her English is good anyway, so even if she does, it will be great.... and even if this song doesn't make it to the final, I wont get mad, because we are sending different songs, not just pop songs. I wouldn't want another song like "its all about you" this year.

Still it just feels so wrong in a way to change an ethno inspired entry from native language to English..

I think they'll make another version for the ESC which will be a bit better, I'd make it more up-tempo perhaps...and put it in English. Unlike for many other countries, it works very good for Albania when they put song into English, it becomes better somehow. So I think final version of the song will be different and better, I should vote again later...in few months.

^^Well I can't say its any better or worse until they change the language. They might prepare great lyrics in English that fit the song perfectly.

I don't think the song is that heavy based on ethno to suffer from a language change.

Well, if they want to change a song for the better, they should firstly look at the song imo and not language.

But most probably they will update both the song and change language aswell.

[QUOTE=Arben;442523]yes the entry was great in 2010, but look at what place Albania came in. I wouldn't want another song like "its all about you" this year.[

/I wish Albania all the best - and I must say, that I liked the Albanian songs during the last years. And perhaps people will like this song - and an experiment is always a good thing. ]

Exactly! A language change is just a change of language, but it's still the same song if arrangement/production won't be changed.

BREAKING NEWS!

This year's Albanian representative, Aurela Gace, will travel today to Los Angeles to record the new version of her song Kėnga ime. Aurela has decided to put her other music projects on hold and in the coming months she will only be focused on the Eurovision Song Contest.

esctoday.com had the opportunity to have a short talk this morning with Aurela Gaēe just before she flies to Los Angeles.

How is the preparation of the Eurovision entry going?
We have done a lot and everything is going fine so far. In few hours me and my team will fly to Los Angeles to work on the final version of Kėnga ime. We will also record in Los Angeles at a renowned studio the new version of the song which will be used in Eurovision.

We saw a trailer of your new video a few days ago on YouTube. Can you tell us more about this?
That’s the trailer of my new song CaSh which was supposed to be released in January. I’m collaborating this time with the famous Albanian hip hop singer MC Kresha. CaSh will be the first single from my upcoming album but I have decided to publish this song, the video and as well as the new album after Eurovision since I only will be focused on Kėnga ime and Eurovision until May, stated Aurela. xlisten2

FEEL THE PASSION - Aurela to sing in English!

Aurela Gaēe, the Albanian representative at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, has given more details to esctoday.com about her Eurovision entry. Feel the passion is the new song title of the song to be performed in Düsseldorf. The entry became more of a rock song, but it has an ethno touch in the orchestration.
After a consultation between Aurela and her team, they decided to choose English as the language for the Albanian entry at Eurovision 201, although it will keep some verses in Albanian. Feel the passion, the new version of Kėnga ime, has more rock elements but the ethnic sound is not missing in the new orchestration.

The Albanian team has been for 10 days in Los Angeles to record their Eurovision entry at the worldwide renowned Village Studios. Many famous musicians who worked with international names like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, etc. also worked on the Albanian entry.

These are the names of the people who have worked on the song Feel the passion: Michael Frondelli (recording & mixing engineer), Gene Grimaldi (mastering engineer), John "Jr" Robinson (drums), Nathan East (bass) and Michael Tompson (guitar).

The final mastering of the song has been done in Oasis Studio. Three backing vocals have been added to the song -Lamont Van Hook, Monet and Beverly-, plus the famous Albanian composer with an international career, Aldo Shllaku.

Aurela and her team arrived last weekend back in the country and this week they will start recording the preview video for the Eurovision entry.

I actually think this might need a bit of English to succeed but only 50/50. ;) I hope this will be what happens in the end.

I hope the translation actually helps it, the song itself isn't too bad once you listen to it several times. I just think that the intro is too bland (I like the ethnic sound though) and the build up of emotions and such through the first 1/3 of the song is too slow to catch the attention of the typical Eurovision watchers. I think that's the song's major problem rather than the language that it's in. I cannot discredit that English songs are easily understood by most of the European watchers, but the English language can only do so much for it.

Aurela's way to Düsseldorf

All we get these days are rumours and unconfirmed news, but why not share them :)

The english version of "Kėnga ime" is called "Feel your passion" according to someone who asked a assistant of Aurela's group. According to that very same person the new version was recorded together with "Michael Frondelli (sound maker), JR Robinson(drums), Nathan East (bass), Michael Thompson (guitar)". The new version contain rock elements now, which means that tradionally the new version will differ a lot from the original one.

I just have a feeling that my disappointment in this song will be converted into love when I hear the new version. It's an all too common formula Albania uses successfully:
