Sadly this wasn't the case. It was very unlikely we would return in the first place, but now there is no chance. xcry

Hopefully I am wrong and there is some strange miracle...

::hu and ::sk aren't the best of neighbours: there has been a few small political disputes in recent times. The big relationship is ::cz + ::sk

Hmm ok but still.. They shouldn't only look at Czech Republic...
They should see through the stigmas & look at the truth
If you get a good song you qualify (Latvia 2008 - 2014 = Awful, 2015 = awesome = qualification)
If your song just suchs, you won't qualify, although your country can be loved (Denmark & Iceland 2015)

There is little interest for Eurovision in ::sk as we never do well and send decent entries every year. Of course returning isn't only dependent on ::cz doing well, but with the chances of us returning so low anyway, them failing to qualify only decreases the chances of a return.

Cuts don't help either.

Sorry gotta disagree with that Carrie :/
2009 was butchered live & the song was middle of the road
2010 was a heavenly good song, but the vocals of her & her backing were DISASTROUS
2011 was a very middle of the road, repetitive song, a bit like Netherlands this year
2012 was a good try, which again got butchered live

lol Slovakia sent two awesome songs in 2009/2010, then sold out to please juries in 2011 and went for drastic change sound-wise in 2012.

Nothing worked because no one cares about Slovakia. Eventually, I think they were wise enough not to return this year, as they would have failed like their neighbor.

With ::cz out now, they probably think they were right about this.

Ι think she is not strong enough to support live a song.
In the year that Kristina won the NF, the 2nd song would do much better in Eurovision, and everything would be different now for Slovakia.

Horehronie was a good enough song to do better. It was killed by that bizarre and amateur staging.

Let´s be serious.

But if they won, I guess that so-called Slovnaft Arena aka "Zimný štadión Ondreja Nepelu" would be the place. According to Wikipedia (http://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimn%C3%BD_%C5%A1tadi%C3%B3n_Ondreja_Nepelu), the capacity after last reconstruction (2009) is over 10.000 places in case of hockey match or something. In case of concerts, I guess it could be around 15.000.

Or scrap the NF and send Adam Ďurica, who is their most popular singer atm anyway and I think he wouldn't have anything against going to ESC.

Ritararita I've actually walked past that  I thought it was just for ice hockey, didn't think it was a venue also. But the part of Bratislava it's in isn't the prettiest so they'd have to put the Eurovision village and red carpet stuff in the old part of town

Carrie

Adam's music is a little plain to me. I'd much rather send Gitanas, although they've faded.

She did alright live, certainly better than some other acts that year that made it to the finals... what effed up the performance was the messy back-ground singer... sure Kristina gave an insecure feeling about her but vocally it wasn't that bad... but that's just a proof that ESC today has nothing to do with songs, only big wailers make it regardless if their songs are pure sh*t while true masterpiece songs like "Horehronie" didn't because they didn't have a big wailer doing the song (and a big wailer would destroy a song like that anyways)... there's just room for one type of vocals in ESC nowadays :/

C'mon Slovakia! You have excellent music industry for such a small country. Show it to the whole world!

Anyway, I still want joint Czech-Slovak national final. It would be amazing. We have so many common Czech-Slovak TV projects, why not do that for Eurovision as well?
It worked for Idol, a declining TV show, which the new Czech-Slovak aspect helped to revive. I think it would work amazingly for Eurovision as well.

Speaking of Czechoslovak Idol, the new season starts today and 3 of the 4 judges have something to do with Eurovision ;) (Marta Jandová - obvious, Ondřej Soukup - producer of this year's CZ entry, Klára Vytisková - participant in CZ 2008 NF).
Winner of Idol representing Slovakia in Eurovision wouldn't be bad as well - lots of people are hating on Idol, saying they are all karaoke singers, but don't realize most of these have had bands for years before Idol. Plus it worked quite well for Sweden, didn't it? :p

And that's a shame. None of you qualified back in 2009, now it's time for revenge.
Seriously, you're capable of winning imo. Hungary got close in 2014, I'm sure their time will come soon. As for Poland, TVP should think out of the box and aim at quality to improve your results, so you can do it too since your music scene is rich. Czechs must try again, "Hope Never Dies" was a great surprise, so they're not hopeless (underrated maybe). Slovakia needs to come back and stick to its interesting local music scene, no more American wannabe please.

Well, now that CT confirmed Czech Republic will participate next year, I think there is quite a big chance that a change of heart will happen in RTVS - after all one of the main reasons why they withdrew was that (according to RTVS) even successful broadcasters such as CT choose to stay away from Eurovision. Now their reason isn't up-to-date so in case of non-participation they will have to come up with another explanation for their decision :)

Honestly, Slovakia's non participating could be called just blues to me. Because they really did a good job for the meanwhile they participated. However, they never got what they expected. Unlike The Netherlands, they decided to stay out instead of struggling. But that could be just a happy moment for Eurovision if they ever decide to return.

I would like to know who that mysterious artist could be. It must be someone rich, with an ambition to be internationally known and happy with a corruption as a way to succeed in it... Perhaps Dara Rolins?
