What are your favourite quotes from Terry Wogan from his time as the UK commentator?

Mine include

Talking about Prime Minister of ::ru 2002...
"When you pick a boyband, you usually pick them for their good lucks. Bur Russia seem to have gone to the other extreme"

Talking about ::be 2000
"Now I would have said that was a nil pointer there"

As ::tr was announced the winner in 2003 in ::lv
"I think I'm going to have the sun on my back in Istanbul, possibly Ankara, I have no bias. Finally we'll be away from the Baltic. A sunshine holiday!"

My first memory of Eurovision was Terry Wogan's "Dr. Jekyll and the Tooth Fairy" comment about the presenters in 2001, I believe he later called them "The Little Mermaid and Doctor Death"!
As a fan of Star Trek, I also like his "Here come the Borg" and "It's life Jim but not as we know it" comments about ::gr 2002.
After ::ba 2004, he commented "I'm worried some of these performances are a bit too subtle for you", and before ::md 2005, he claimed that the granny must have said "If your going to that contest dressed like that, you going to have to take me with you!"

I miss Terry as the UK commentator, but think Graham Norton is doing a fantastic job now.

My favorite one is from 1982 when ::at gave ::de only one point
"Heavens to Murgatroyd! They'll probably invade Austria now next week"

In 1985, his reaction to Lill Linfors' "wardrobe malfunction" could be summed up for me in three words:
"Oh look, eeeeey!"

He had this to say about the satellite-like earrings Viktor Lazlo wore when she came out for the voting procedure in 1987:
"Now I told you to watch out for the new set of earrings, and here they come. Take me to your leader"

Terry was the best, miles better than Graham Norton, and I do wish he'd come back.

Anyway here's another list (http://rod.customer.netspace.net.au/eurosong/wogan.htm) of his best quotes!

He is one of the main reasons Eurovision's reputation is so bad in the UK...

Actually his remarks about the 2001 host's got him and the BBC in a lot of trouble. Apparently the Danes were so offended about what he said that the BBC were forced to issue a public apology over the issue.

I started watching eurovision properly in 2009 so have only ever had graham Norton. I think Graham does a great job at it, I don't want Terry Wogan back at all. He destroyed eurovision in the UK over the decades.

I remember his comment just before ::sl song in the 2007 final. He said "Actually, the real title of this song is "talk to your hand".

I never quite liked his comments, they became ruder every year. Graham Norton is much better commentator in my opinion. I re-watch Eurovision after the final show just to hear his comments :D

Yes Graham is a lot more funny I think, One of my favourites was in 2012 and Estonia gave us 5 points. He was like "5 points! I was going to mock your lipstick colour but I wont now" or in 2010 and Malta didn't give us any points so he said "Now I will say it, Hideous dress". 2013 was funny as well when we was getting the french votes and the person was swaying side to side and he was like "Wait come back! Where is she going? Is she on a Skateboard".

He does have a tendancy to say some borderline stuff but he is no where near as bad as Wogan.

I do this too

Terry Wogan is just so coarse when he does his commentaries to the point that you just roll your eyes when you listen to him. Though, to be fair, his cynicism and his below-the-belt blows were quite memorable
