He is such a creep wow. He's basically saying that he wants to work with a Belarussian girl with a bad accent but amazing looks. He's the biggest slimeball to win the contest in recent years

:/ Gurl bye.

He just said that despite their funny accent when they are speaking english, they should keep it because it is one of the elements that makes belarussian songs interesting. I don't see any problem in choosing a girl to be the representative of Belarus in 2015. He did the same in Norway, in 2013, with Annsofi and it was a successful project.

Wow Mrm you are a fan of the iconic Belorussian soprano, Elena Sinyavskaya also? I had no idea. Isn't she just wonderful. "Via Lattea" is a life affirming song. I would like to see the prizewinning opera star back next year in the Belorussian selection with a song as epic as her last one, although I would prefer it if she were to be internally selected. I don't trust the Belorussian jury who placed her song this year in last position.

Yes her vocals were poor but really I think the "I love Belarus" part is a massive put off for some people. I liked the song, but it had such unfortunate lyrics. Had it not had that one phrase in it then I'm sure it would have qualified.

Yes of course, but people from the UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Greece etc were not going to understand that patriotism. Songs like that work on a national level but not an international level.

I guess it can work two ways. Either you don't understand or you admire it. I'm the second. Surely you have to base the quality of the song from the overall value though, I think she was unlucky.

I did really like the song, but I didn't really like the "I love Belarus" part. and I still don't now and I put full blame on their failure with the juries on that phrase. I do agree with you that the quality should be based on overall value, however the average viewer and jury don't get the opportunity to listen to the song a few times to get it's full potential, that us fans do.

" A new girlband are set to compete, with a song composed by Alexander Rybak."

Is Elena Sinyavskaya part of this girlband? I can imagine Rybak being utterly desperate to work with Sinyavskaya, but she's a girl who wants to do things her own way. I can't imagine her being too pleased about carrying a bunch of inferior girls. Our Elena is a soloist.

I am pretty sure he'll win this NF cause Belarus won't miss the chance to place high in the Grand Final. But it's not certain, he's not Johny Logan and it's not 80's.

No word so far on the 'Via Lattea' songstress :-( The returning acts from earlier years are Napoli, Uzari and the awful Switter Boys so far. But the field is not confirmed until 5 December - so anything is possible. Right now there are just a bunch (around 12 i heard so far) out which were submitted - but it's not sure who made the cut.

Napoli's song is another nice entry:

I've been hearing someone else praising this, i'm not into it after 2 listens. The beat and the song are alright, but her voice and the way she delivers (scratch: sings) this song doesn't do it for me :-P But who knows what some revamping could do.

"Via Lattea" was everyone's favourite, I remember the outrage on the forum when she didn't get any points from the televote and subsequently didn't win. Anyone who says they didn't like it were liars who secretly played it on repeat all day.

RainyWoods

Yes, AshleyWright's words above are quite right. Fans of Eurovision were left shocked, devastated and disgusted when Belorussian Super Soprano Elena Sinyavskaya came second last with the sensational, life affirming piece that was "Via Lattea". I watched the selection with a dear friend and we almost had tears, she was THAT good. The performance she gave of the song, it was like she had just won the big contest itself. The confidence as she enters the final chorus. She doesn't even sing the words, she just stretches her arms, holds her head back and mouths "Via Lattea" to herself in a state of euphoric bliss. She was everything. I'll never get over this song. In a fair contest, she would have won Amber style with a flawless victory.. but we all know Belarus is the Eurovision country of scandal.

Indeed so. xheat we have just heard Belarus's eurovision entry. We all, already know they will all be lukashenko approved. I love that there is Belorussian parts in the song, something Ive been longing to hear from Belarus in ESC.

I can't decide whether I like My Accent. I think the "la-la-la-la" hook isn't very strong and I felt let down when I got to it, but I started to have fun when I got to the epic second verse xyaay And then the last 45 seconds of the song lose momentum again. Maybe it will have an interesting performance that will spice it up, but if it wins, it would be better to do a revamp and improve its structure somehow.

Today, the broadcaster BTRC has announced the 15 candidates for the Belarusian national selection. During the last two days, auditions took place in Minsk. 89 hopefuls performed in front of a professional jury which was made up of Alexander Tikhanovich (singer), Vasili Rainchik (singer and musician), Elena Treshchinskaya (editor of radio Radius FM), Eugen Popkovich,(producer of Belarus 1 channel), Olga Ryzhkova (chief editor of Belarus 1 channel), Andrej Holodinski (musical editor of Radio-Roks) and Marianna Drabovich (head of the Department of Arts, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus). The national final will take place on 26 December.
Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak also had a finger in the pie. In the last few weeks he organised a nation-wide casting and eventually formed the girlband Milki. Rybak composed their song Accent as well – you can listen to it here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TElbOmHOGQA).

The 15 participants:

Aliaksei Hros
Darya
Valeria Sadovskaya
Uzari & Maimuna
MILKI
Yana Butskevich & Muzzart
Beatrys
Napoli
Tasha ODI
Lis
Rostany
Anastasia Malashkevich
Vital’ Varanko

The Zombie Band that caught the attention of the Eurovision fandom in the last few weeks did not make it to the national final line-up. Their song Run Away seemingly didn’t impress the juries too much.

I love the Belarussian Eurofest 2015, but the most outstanding piece of art is of course Accent.

Eastern Europe is due for another victory, and Belarus would be the most interesting country to win in the first place. I don't wanna die without ever having been there. (that being said, the Mediterranean and Atlantic countries are overdue)

But the voting rules are pretty unfavouribly tilted against Belarus, I suppose.

Cheesecake already was a cool song and yet it was slamdunked by most juries ....

I feel 2015 could become the year of stuck up ballads (hello Malta and Macedonia) and slow tempo, so something catchy and fun like Accent might have a better chance than it would have had this year (hi Moustache)

Got to agree with you, I get the impression that Belarus is just trolling us the past 5 years. Solayoh, Cheescake and I Love Belarus we're one of the most disgusting, trashiest entries in recent Eurovision history and that is saying a lot. I've listened to the songs this morning and this looks like a setup. I retract my statement of this being the national final to beat this year. All the interesting folk/ethnopop entries are nowhere to be seen. There were plenty of good ones and they've all been gotten rid off. Competition for Milki perhaps? I didn't like anything I heard. Just Beatrees for me, everything else is either deathly boring or lacklustre. I'm still undecided on Milki, they seem a bit weak and as far as Eurotrash goes, we've heard far better.

I hope they can, i've been listening to "Fighter" all week. It does indeed have the potential to be really epic. As Schlagerman pointed out on the previous page, it sounds very 90's. Milki will qualify and eventually score a good point at the final, we already know the song and I tell you why!

Do you remember the Buranovskiye Babushki who came second?? Cut 60 years to each member of the group and listen to the songs again together one after the other. The magic is done!

Your missing the point. It wasn't the song that got the grannies second It was the fact they were grannies singing a song that you would not expect in the slightest. If it had been sung by 20 year olds, it certainly wouldn't have come second.

They were basically a gimmick.

Schlagerman1
9th December 2014, 23:23
Of course the grannies won the 2nd place because of the gimmick. The song itself wouldn't even have had a chance in the NF with younger girls. This song differs from the grannies song that it has a better hook and have a completly different approach that the Russian song had. This to me sounds a bit more "political" (even if they don't use a word about it). Singing about their accent, something that I am sure many english-speakers have been very irritated a lot of times in ESC by it. This is a song that many easteuropeans (and others too) can relate to, the hard feeling of learning a language not perfect enough and the way people getting so irritated about it. Also that the song is written by Alexander Rybak will make them sail through the NF (with or without Lukashenko, I think even without him or his people involved). I also believe that it has a good shot of qualifying, if the draw for Belarus is good enough. But not better in 20th in the final I think is the most it can get, but still it is a fun song which I will support if it gets to Vienna! :D

I hope they can, i've been listening to "Fighter" all week. It does indeed have the potential to be really epic. As Schlagerman pointed out on the previous page, it sounds very 90's. Has an almost En Vogue feel to it. Their routine looks solid, the song is very hard hitting and in your face, plus they sing well. I think they could come from behind and take this.. that is if the winner isn't already predetermined:rolleyes:

The intro is like a little fairytale but then a smoking hot beat kicks in over it and the girls get in your face.Its very powerful.The chorus with the deep voiced one singing over the other two's harmony really works well.No hiding from the fact that structure really is dated and seems very manufactured in places.It works though because the girls inject the whole melody with energy and fantastic little moments.I love the little short bridges where you hear the girls take a breath in,,you know they are going to crank up.Id like to see those few electro moments as they come out of the bridges removed though.They date it too much and one part is bordering on rap,id be tempted to change that.

I can imagine the staging at ESC with this.The girls stepping out of the dark one at a time through the intro then bang.They even have room for three backing singers to make things even more layered.

MILKI will be favourites, but they are wafer thin.Huge potential to be a complete car crash at ESC.Eurotrash has been done many times better than those girls can manage.Interesting to see if things are fair this year.No jury could vote MILKI top if independant.

That's the truth, but you can't deny our subconscious already knows that formula, so it will be easier for us to "digest" Milki's song... am I getting too psychological?? :lol:

Most people didn't even listen to the song. They just saw grannies and voted for them. Proper Eurovision fans would but the general public won't make the same connection.

I will say that I actually quite like MILKI's song

I listened to all the songs. The NF is quite ok, but nothing special. Some songs are good, some are terrible. I'm rooting for Beatress, Tasha Odi and Vitaly Voronko. They have the best entries, but if anyone from my Top6 won, I'd be glad.

Here is my ranking:

::12 Beatrees - Fighter
::10 Tasha Odi - Giving Up Your Love
::8 Vitaly Voronko - Drajv
::7 Uzari & Maimuna - Time
::6 Yana Butskevich & Muzzart - Only Dance
::5 Lis - Angel
::4 Milki - Accent
::3 Alexey Gross - Stand As One
::2 Janet - Supernova
::1 Rostany - Electric Toys
::0 Gunesh - I Believe in a Miracle
::0 Napoli - My Dreams
::0 Anastasia Malashkevich - Don't Save My Name
::0 Valeria Sadovskaya - Summer Love
::0 Daria - Love Is My Colour

Vitaly Voronko was in the Blind Auditions in The Voice of Poland, but he didn't get through :(

Born in Belorussia, USSR time

Time is rushing, everything's crashing
Passing by

Born in Belorussia, USSR time
Belorussia, got you on my mind
You're my passion, do it old-fashioned
