With the end of the national final season it’s time to catch you up on all the releases you might have missed from former Eurovision, Junior Eurovision, and American Song Contest participants. Since the first Super Saturday weekend to today we’ve seen 145 new tracks and albums released across the globe, and hopefully you’ll find some new tunes to add to your personal playlists. Without further delay, let’s dive in!

Grant Knoche – Another Reason (Texas, American Song Contest 2022)

Since his appearance on ASC last year, Grant has quickly released a total of four new singles, with Another Reason being the lastest of the batch. The song tackles the topic of Knoche’s first relationship and subsequent heartbreak, and while the song contains a painful lyrical story it’s track is filled with strong electropop beats and fast-moving melodies. As a YouTube user said best in a comment under the video – “I’m currently crying while dancing”.

Thing in the Cage – Lordi (Finland, Eurovision 2006)

Metal heads rejoice as Eurovision 2006 winners Lordi have revealed that a new album “Screem Writers Guild” is coming at the end of the month with one of the title tracks being Thing in the Cage.  The album will be the band’s 18th studio album to date and is said to contain a cinematic horror movie theme throughout it’s tracks, which is why the song also teases images for their new costumes referencing Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein and the Creature from the Black Lagoon as well. The album is also the first to feature new guitarist Kone who joined the band just last year.

Oh Boy – Rita Laranjeira (Portugal, Junior Eurovision 2018)

Rita was first launched into the public eye back in 2018 when she was selected for Junior Eurovision, but we truly saw her grow into her own as an artist during The Voice of Portugal 2020. Since then she’s been releasing pop track after pop track, solidifying her spot in the Portuguese music industry. Her new track Oh Boy is a collaboration between Rita, singer-songwriter James dos Reis, bassist Diogo Seis, and Tyoz and tells the story of boys who take advantage of girls. Oh Boy is Rita’s second released single this year, with her first being Canções – a song written by Diogo Piçarra and António Graça.

1930 – Rosa López (Spain, Eurovision 2002)

Spain’s 2002 Eurovision representative Rosa López recently released her new single 1930, a song who’s message is aimed at supporting the transgender community. Speaking about the song, López said – “This song has been created to give love and give everyone a lot of strength to use it however they want.” The song has received a fair amount of backlash from some who disagree with her viewpoints, but also from the music business industry as López was unable to receive a sponsorship to finance the song’s music video. Despite this López has said she is fully happy with the final result of the song and it has seen great popularity, picking up more than 100 thousands streams on Spotify and YouTube.

Electric Soul – Jake’O (Wisconsin, American Song Contest 2022)

Do you remember Wisconsin’s nuevo-retro artist Jake’O from last year’s American Song Contest? Well he’s back with his debut self-titled album “Jake’O” and uses his ASC entry as a inspiration point. The album’s songs feature a mixture of sounds from the Rock, Pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop genres that, according to his management, gives listeners “a taste of what to expect from his future releases”. One thing is certain – Jake’O is in a musical lane of his own!
