The time is ticking, and we’re only getting closer and closer to knowing who Europe will crown as the next winner of the Eurovision Song Contest. We really hope that you’ve been taking part and been watching all our great content, live from Lisbon in the past week, and of course we hope you’ll keep doing it until the end of it all.
All the delegations has by now arrived, all countries have had their individual rehearsals, and all the great fun is about to turn into serious competition. The opening ceremony is the event where all the participants get the chance to feel like a superstar, before they fight with their voices for your votes. It’s of course the Red Carpet, or in this case this year, it will be the Blue Carpet.
Portugal and the host broadcaster RTP has thus far shown, that Lisbon is a city that’s close to the sea, which we’ve seen on the official logos for this years contest, and have decided to go with a blue carpet, instead of the usual red color. Just like it has been every year, all 43 participants and delegations will one by one arrive at the blue carpet, where they can take the time to take pictures with fans, talk to journalists from all over the world, express their joy about taking part in the contest, and what else their heart may desire. It’s a once in a lifetime moment for these artist, so hopefully they’ll feel like the stars that they are (Yes, I know it’s a second time for some, and who knows, maybe we might see others another time once again).
The ceremony will take place at MAAT Museum Lisboa, which is located right next to the sea, and the hosts of the ceremony will be Cláudia Semedo, Inês Lopes Gonçalves, Pedro Granger and Pedro Penim.
The ceremony will start at 20:00 (8 PM) CEST, and can be watched live on the official Eurovision Song Contest Youtube Channel.
You can also just click play on this video, when it all starts, and you should be able to watch it from our site then.
