Is Dotan set to become the next Dutch Eurovision hopeful?

The rumour mill for 2016 has kicked off not long after the new season was ushered in on September 1st, and now we have our first rumoured artist for the contest in Stockholm. It appears that indie-folk singer-songwriter Dotan has been signalled by Dutch press as the chosen artist for the Netherlands, with an official announcement of a singer expected by AVROTROS in October.

The 29 year old singer found fame last year with his breakthrough album 7 Layers which reached #1 in the Netherlands album chart and spawned hits such as “Home” and “Hungry”. A potential Eurovision entry from Dotan could see the country returning to its folk aesthetic that proved successful in 2014, although a more upbeat song would be likely.

Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has been slow to confirm or deny the rumour, so we will have to wait for an official confirmation. However, similar rumours concerning Trijntje Oosterhuis and Ilse deLange proved fruitful in previous years.
