The Czech national broadcaster CT has confirmed what many were expecting to the fan site esctoday: The Central European country won’t return to the Eurovision Song Contest next year. Exact reasons haven’t been stated.
Besides the Czech Republic, the microstates Andorra and Monaco have also confirmed they won’t be present at the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Austria next year.
Having debuted in 2007, the Czech Republic couldn’t have been more unsuccessful in Eurovision. Neither of their attempts brought them a ticket to the final. The three Czech representatives Kabát, Tereza Kerndlová and Gipsy.cz only managed to achieve 10 points in total.
