The Croatian broadcaster HRT is expected to select sixteen acts for Dora 2019, the selection process that will choose the Croatian entry for Tel Aviv.

The news, which has been reported in the Croatian media outlet Slobodna Dalmacija, also seems to confirm that the show will take place with a music festival feel over three nights in the coastal town of Opatija, and that a number of artists both well-known and upcoming have implied that they would be willing to participate.

Among them, it seems we could be in for a surprise re-appearance from Jacques Houdek, who finished 13th in Kyiv in the 2017 contest with “My Friend”. Also rumoured to take part are Damir Kedžo, Lidija Bačić, Jure Brkljača, Mia Dimšić and a project from Colonia producer Boris Đurđević.

Some of the rules of the selection also suggest a new approach to selecting an entry, with foreign composers invited to enter their submissions for Croatian performers. The three nights that Dora 2019 would involve are;

  • Performance with the Opatija Symphony Orchestra
  • Dora classics
  • Entries for Eurovision 2019

A press conference regarding the selection is expected to be held in the coming days which will confirm all of the details, involving new head of delegation Željen Klašterka and HRT producer Uršula Tolj.
