The Azerbaijani national TV channel, ITV, have released information regarding their selection process for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
Azerbaijan have once again decided not to give the people a say in their representative, they have opted for an internal selection once again. Citizens of Azerbaijan are asked to submit their interest in participating in the Eurovision to submit their applications before the deadline on the 10th of February. After the deadline the panel will decide on the best act and song to represent them in Stockholm. The selection will be made public on the 14th of March.
Azerbaijan joined the Eurovision family in 2008 and have achieved three podium places including a victory in 2011 with “Running Scared”. In 2015 Elnur Huseynov returned to the Eurovision stage seven years after he first took to the stage, his second attempt ended in 12th position in Vienna last May.
