Conchita Wurst won the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 for Austria with her song “Rise like a Phoenix”. So next year we all get to travel to beautiful Vienna (or somewhere else) thanks to a superb performance this past Saturday. Prior to this, Olivia from ESC United interviewed Conchita in London and among other things, this is what the Austrian performer had to say:

“I think these laws are so ridiculous, and actually they are not making me nervous, they are making me furious if I’m honest. You know we are in the 21st century and we are talking here about human rights. And it’s not important who you love, or the colour of your skin.

These are things which… we thought we past that, but we didn’t and this is just making me so sad and so angry at the same time. For me it is even more motivating to be on this stage because nobody is going to bring me down.

We are all on this little globe so we should all just try to stick together and get along and everybody should live their life however they want it.”
