And now it’s time for our final three rehearsals of the day from France, Spain, and Italy – who are all rehearsing for the very first time on stage. Earlier this afternoon we was the other Big 5 and host countries United Kingdom, Germany, and Sweden run their performances so check our recap article to see what they have planned for the final.
🇫🇷 France – Slimane delivers an emotional ballad engulfed in white
France continues our journey through the Big 5 countries, and his performance is said to pull in the energy of Mon Amour‘s music video, intimate, emotional, and intense. The performance is the first of the night to not feature props – just a lone white square on the LED floor. Slimane rests on his knees on this square for the first half of the performance before he begins to get up and move around more.
The official liveblog states that while on his knees, Slimane is interacting with the camera in such a way that it feels he’s having the actual lyrical conversation with the audience. Like they are there and experiencing and causing the argument, hurt, and emotion Slimane is showcasing on camera.
Once he is off his knees we see a large amount of smoke enter the stage, setting up some really impactful lighting and imagery of the smoke swallowing him whole so to speak. We’ve received word that in the last chorus of the song Slimane will perform acapella away from the microphone, stepping back towards the smoke clouds. The echo it creates in the arena is described as haunting.
@eurovision Je rejoue la scène… That’s how good @Slimane first rehearsal was 🇫🇷 #Eurovision2024
🇪🇸 Spain – Nebulossa’s ZORRA set to be a showstopper
It appears that Spain has once again taken inspiration from the staging used at Benidorm Fest, but this time it’s with a twist. While no box sets are being used for this performance, the liveblog reports that the performance begins inside of the middle LED cube – marking Spain as the first act to bring the cube down to the stage. Given the placement of the cube and the sofa platform, we believe that will be part of the “reveal” when the cube raises to the ceiling. We believe this is where the first image of the key cut-out comes from.
Once again the performance is styled in blacks, golds, and reds but the photos reveal new details will be show on the LED walls. There are images of Greek armless statues, what looks to be a curtain of golden bead strands, and images of a bustling street at night, with a looming high-rise in the background. The costumes are remained, which include corsets underneath for the male dancers of course, with Mery herself in a lacy jumpsuit with billowing sleeves and a corset underneath.
There will be some fireworks used during the chorus and smoke is present on stage during the beginning of the performance.
@eurovision @NEBULOSSA have arrived to Malmö exactly as we’d hoped – más ZORRA todavía 🇪🇸 #Eurovision2024
🇮🇹 Italy – Angelina closes rehearsals with a cacophony of flowers
Angelina and her team are ready to drown the arena in red roses! The beautiful photos posted by Corinne showcase a few details we’d like to point out, namely that Angelina’s bodysuit has a nude illusion alongside her dancers as well, which showcase the thorny interconnections of a rose bush. Angelina’s however also comes with a ruby encrusted midsection that almost looks like a modern corset with side-lacing and black lace details.
Truthfully the vibe feels like Queen of Hearts but if she was in a forest version of Wonderland – that’s the imagery we’re getting (you’re welcome). The liveblog reports that four of her dancers begin the performance from within four of the five LED cubes, taking Spain’s idea to the next level. The cubes don’t seem to rise too high, as they are still visible
There is also a moment when the lights fall in the arena with lights pouring out from behind Angelina and the thorn chair, possibly at the beginning of her performance. The ending shows a curtain of fireworks falling from the top of the stage.
@eurovision Will the queen please take the throne… @angelinamango__ makes her entrance onto the rehearsal stage 🇮🇹 #Eurovision2024
