Saturday is upon us, and usually at this time of the year, that means A LOT is going on around in Europe, when it comes to the Eurovision Song Contest, which was indeed the case. One of those places, where something happened, was in Moldova. The tiny country, with a big heart just held their national final, and we now know who we’ll see in Malmö.

Finala Națională 2024

If you’ve been following the process in Moldova in the past, you should be familiar with their style. To those who haven’t, the country opened up for submissions back in November, then announced 32 songs were accepted out of the 51 submissions, then held a audition round last month, and finally the national final with the 11 participants tonight.

Before we get further into details, let’s just remind who the 11 finalists of tonight were: (Running-order)

  1. Nicoleta Sava – “Bravo”
  2. Valeria Pasha – “Anti-Princess”
  3. Reghina Alexandrina – “Contrasens”
  4. Viola Julea – “Light Up!”
  5. OL – “No Time No Space”
  6. Sasha Letty – “DNA”
  7. Natalia Barbu – “In The Middle”
  8. Y-Limit – “Revolution”
  9. Cătălina Solomac – “Fever”
  10. Victor Gulick – “Fever”
  11. Iulia Teleucă – “Runaway”

Other than having all the finalists performing for votes, we also were treated to a guest performance from the band Holograf from Romania. Those who don’t know about the band, they are among one of the more popular names in Romania, and their lead vocalists Dan Bittman represented Romania back in 1994.

Results

The winner was decided by both a selection of jury members, which consisted of Elena Stegari, Liviu Știrbu, Paul Gămurari, Andrei Zapșa, Aliona Moon & Carolina Hanganu who got their results converted into the 12-point scale as we know it, and by the televote in the same manner. This way giving both sides of the results 50% of the final outcome. Starting with the jury results, the top 3 was as follow:

  1. Natalia Barbu – 60 points (12 points)
  2. Valeria Pasha – 43 points (10 points)
  3. Iulia Teleucă – 40 points (8 points)

Meanwhile, Iulia Teleucă got 3rd place from the televote, while 2nd went to Natalia Barbu and finally winning the televote was Valeria Pasha. Meaning, that with both scores combined, the final outcome of the top 3 was as follow:

  1. Natalia Barbu – 22 points
  2. Valeria Pasha – 22 points
  3. Iulia Teleucă – 16 points

With that, we can conclude that Natalia Barbu will now represent Moldova at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Malmö. Moldova will perform in the second half of the first semi-final, which will take place on May 7th 2024. If #YOU wish to rewatch the show, or if you missed it, then it can be re-watched right here:
