Dora 2024 is approaching!
Tomislav Å tengl, the Head of Delegation for Croatia in Eurovision, was a guest on the “Good morning, Croatia” show (Dobro jutro, Hrvatska), and has revealed some important information regarding Dora 2024.
Namely, 196 songs were entered in the competition last year, and given that the deadline for Dora has closed on December 1, 2023, this year they have about the same number – around 200 songs that were entered into this competition seeking their Eurovision 2024 representative. The interest in the competition is, however, at an all time high, as this year they received highest number of applications.
Å tengl has also mentioned that the winning song, apart from just being a good song, also has to contain a story that the performer wants to convey to the listeners.
When asked about the potential dates, he shared that the location for Dora 2024 is set for Opatija in February 2024. Details such as the specific date and the number of shows for the contest are yet to be determined and will be announced later, but the speculation is around February 24. We are looking forward to finding that out as soon as possible!
And as soon as next week, the expert jury of HRT will select 24 songs contending for the title of Croatia’s representative at Eurovision, along with 4 backup songs in case a finalist is unable to perform or withdraws.
The competition for Dora 2024 will be broadcast live on HRT channels, the HRTi platform, and HRT’s website in February 2024.
