DORA 2024
As per usual, when a song submission is opened, a set of rules and condition are also released along. These things tells us which conditions must be met, in order to be taking into consideration, and of course, must of these rules follow the rules of the EBU as well. Among the rules states, we will see following such as:
- Participants must be 16 years or older in order to take part
- Participants under the age of 18, must be given guardian permission
- Songs must not be longer than 3 minutes
- Songs must not have been released prior
Then there are the set rules, by the Croatian broadcaster, which includes:
- Performers must have permission by the songwriters to perform their song
- Participants must be of Croatian descendent
- Songs can be performed in the Croatian language or any other European language
With all that in mind, HRT has also revealed that a total of up to 28 songs will be selected for the show(s), and should one of the acts be hindered from performing, another 4 songs will be picked as reserves. As mentioned earlier, the song submission is open starting today and will last until November 30 2023. Anyone who might have an interest in representing Croatia as the contest, can fill out the official application here.
The songs will be selected by a professional jury, and HRT has also stated that the final amount of “show(s)” will be revealed in December 2023. The final is set to take place sometime in February 2024.
For 2023, Let 3 was chosen to represent the country in Liverpool with the song “Mama Å ÄŒ!“. This proved to be a great decision for Croatia, since they finally returned to the final, for the first time since 2017. Unfortunately, the Croats could not impress the juries, scoring only 11 points from them in the final, but managed to bring a smile for the televoters, who instead awarded them 112 points. Overall, Croatia could see themselves finish on 13th place with a combined score of 123 points.
