While balancing travel plans and publicity for their pre-Eurovision 2023 tour, I was able to sit down with Ukrainian representatives TVORCHI to talk about their pathway to Eurovision and a variety of other great details.
One of our first conversations centered around why the band added a bridge with Ukrainian lyrics to their song, when the Vidbir version was 100% in English. “We decided it was the best move because we wanted some way of identifying that our band was from Ukraine, and if I remember correctly there is another band who has a lot of Ukrainian in their song too.” They also talked about what it was like to record the revamp and music video during war time.
They also reveal that they are most looking forward to meet Noa Kirel from Israel, and that their 19th slot in the running order allows them to focus on what’s ahead of them and relax before the show and enjoy the experience and other performances.
About TVORCHI
TVORCHI is a Ukrainian electronic band which was formed while Andrii and Jeffrey were studying Pharmacy at Ternopil National Medical University. The band has released three albums up to this point, and their latest EP aptly titled Heart of Steel houses their current Eurovision entry and the other potential entry “Broken Heart”. They burst into the music scene with a successful release of their song “Believe” from their second studio album, then into the international scene with their participation in Vidbir 2020. Now they are off to Liverpool to represent their country in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
