The Spanish national broadcaster, RTVE has officially opened the submission window for their celebrated Benidorm Fest 2023.

2023 marks the return of the Benidorm Fest, which was chosen as the selection mechanism for Spain, last year. This selection mechanism chose Chanel, who finished 3rd with her song “Slo Mo,” marking Spain’s best result since 1995.

RTVE is now accepting submissions for Benidorm Fest 2023. Submissions can be made on the RTVE Eurovision website through their casting form here. The deadline for submissions is October 10 at 23:59 CET. RTVE has also published a list of rules for competing entries, which can be found here.

The tentative dates for Benidorm Fest 2023 are as follows:

  • January 29 – Opening Ceremony
  • January 31 – Semi-Final 1
  • February 2 – Semi-Final 2
  • February 4 – Grand Final

All of the shows will take place in Palau Municipal d’Esports l’Illa de Benidorm. A total of 16 entries will take part in the semi-finals. Of these entries, 8 will qualify for the Grand Final.

RTVE president stated:

“[w]e have attracted international attention with a format that combines values ​​and creativity and promotes solidarity among artists; they have followed it from the oldest to the youngest, we have summoned them outside the social networks in a moment of shared illusion.”

The voting system remains the same as last year. In all three shows, the results will be decided by a professional jury (50%), a demoscopic jury (25%) and public voting (25%). The professional jury will comprise of Spanish and international music industry professionals.
