It’s just 10 days till the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy! Connor speaks to the Swiss representative Marius Bear after his first rehearsals in Turin. Together they talked about his hidden talent, the concept of his staging and which other country he would represent if he would go to Eurovision for the second time. About Marius Bear
Marius is a multi-talented musician from Appenzell in Switzerland. In 2016, Bear abandoned his plan of becoming a construction machinery mechanic, in order to tour Germany and Switzerland as a street musician. At one festival, he got to know a famous producer who invited him to New York, and quickly became part of the Swiss artistic and creative arts scene there.
The globe-trobber was on the move once more in 2017, heading to the United Kingdom, where he studied music production at the prestigious BIMM Institute in London. It was this literal journey of self-discovery that ultimately led to the release of his first album, Not Loud Enough, which soared into the Top 20 of the Swiss album charts. Eurovision.tv
About his Eurovision 2022 song, he says: “I learnt very early on that I don’t need to be ashamed of my feelings. As a man, I’m not afraid to cry and to lay bare my weaknesses to my audience. I don’t want to wear emotional armour, I want to be who I am. And I want to encourage my audience to do the same.”
Marius Bear was selected internally by the Swiss delegation with his song “Boys Do Cry.” He will be performing 4th in the 1st Semi-Final on the 10th of May in Turin, Italy.
