Latvia: LTV awards Miks Dukurs a wildcard for the Supernova 2022 final

Just days after announcing the running order for the final show this coming Saturday, LTV announced that there will be an addition to the line-up. The jury and representatives from LTV both agreed to allow Miks Dukurs to compete again in the final due to technical failures during his semi-final performance.

Speaking about the issue, LSM.lv explained that during his performance last weekend, a technical issue occurred with the effects processing computer and crashed the system. Miks’ performance was originally supposed to have some type of artistic sounds added to the song and performance, but with the failure of the computer these did not happen as planned. Because of this, the sound quality and impact of his performance was greatly affected, and the jury and LTV representatives could hear a definitive difference between the semi-final and rehearsal recordings.

Because of these issues, which were not Mik’s fault, he was awarded the second chance to perform and will join the other ten artists during February 12th’s show. LTV’s reasoning is that the issues may have changed the results from the semi-final, and greatly impacted his final result. However, it is important to note that according to the rules of Supernova, LTV does reserve the right to advance one act to the final if they choose to do so. There is currently no word how this will impact the already announced running order for Saturday’s show.
