As Eurosong, Ireland’s national selection final draws closer, the penultimate song that will be competing on The Late Late Show on February 4 has been released. The song, “One Night, One Kiss, One Promise” is a synth-y pop ballad, sung by 27-year-old Patrick O’Sullivan. You can listen to the song in the below lyric video:
Patrick is a Cork native with a background in musical theater. He earned his degree from ArtsEd in London, where he was given a full scholarship by the school’s President … Andrew Lloyd Webber himself. He has performed in West End productions of Carrie: The Musical, The Book of Mormon, Doctor Dolittle, The Wind in the Willows, and Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell: The Musical.
Last year, he was the winner of the first season of broadcaster RTÉ’s reality competition Last Singer Standing. He beat out over thirty singers, including fellow Eurosong competitor Janet Grogan, for the €25,000 cash prize. That show’s winner was selected through a combination of studio audience votes and feedback from the competition’s three-judge panel (consisting of Nadine Coyle, Joey Fatone, and Samantha Mumba).
“I have always loved Eurovision,” Patrick said in a press release. “I grew up watching it with my family and have fond memories of the whole family sitting down to watch it together.”
