In November 2017, Saara Alto was internally selected by the broadcaster YLE to represent Finland in the Eurovison Song Contest 2018. In the near future, we will know the songs that will compete in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), the Finnish National Final.
Aalto will perform a total of three entries with the Finish public picking their favorite to send to Lisbon, Portugal. The NF is set to take place on March 3rd, 2018.
To build up a hype and excitement, starting February 9th, the team will release a song each Friday leading up to the big show in early March. Mark your calendar with the following dates:
- 09/02: First song revelation
- 16/02: Second song revelation
- 23/02: Third song revelation
The entries will be released at 00:00 local time (23:00 CET) and you will be able to see them on the official website.
Saara Alto couldn’t be more excited about the songs:
“All three songs are so great that any of them could be a winner, all having really strong themes and memorable melodies. I think everyone will find their own favourite and the 3 March show will be a very tight contest.”
Announcement time! My 3 new singles will be released on 9/2, 16/2 and 23/2! We will be taking one of these songs to @Eurovision eurovision & the choice will be YOURS! This is getting exciting! 😍🙌🏼🔥#UMK2018 #euroviisut #eurovision #saaraaalto pic.twitter.com/dqSSC7FoNO
