FYR Macedonia picked the artists for the 2013 contest in Malmo. Vlatko Lozanoski & Esma Redžepova will fly their flag for their home country next May as a duo and the song will be revealed in due time. Who are these two artists though? Let’s get to know the Macedonian act a bit better.
Vlatko Lozanoski is a 27 year old singer and started out as a participant on the talent show Mak Dzvezdi in 2007. The following year he won the Grand Prix on a prestige Radio Festival as well as MakFest. He is not an unknown face to many Eurovision fans as he participated in the Macedonian NF back in 2009 placing fourth. Vlatko returned again in 2010 to represent his country and once again ended up in 4th place. In 2013, his dream to perform on the Eurovision Stage is finally coming true.
Esma Redžepova is a 69 year old singer and started her career in 1956, the year the first Eurovision Song Contest was held. Her list of accomplishments is too long to mention here but by her own account, she released 108 singles, 20 albums and 6 movies. Esma recorded a duet with the late Tose Proeski who represented Maceconia in 2004 & her song “Caje Sukajije” can be found on the soundtrack album for the movie “Borat”. On top of that, with her late husband she has fostered 47 children winning multiple awards for her humanitarian work.
Having a mix between new & old generation is something rather unique so we’re all are very intrigued how the song is going to sound like.
