Bulgaria: Kristian Kostov sings “Beautiful Mess” in Kiev

Bulgaria today became the last nation of this year’s contest to reveal their participant, and have gone for youth over experience in this case. Kristian Kostov, just a few days shy of his 17th birthday, will represent his country with the smooth contemporary ballad “Beautiful Mess”!

With elements of trap and electronic music, Bulgaria’s ballad has elements unheard of in the various other ballads this year and would not seem out of place in many radio playlists and airplay charts; and is in quite a stark contrast to last year’s dancefloor anthem from Poli Genova.

Kristian Kostov achieved fame in the local Bulgarian version of The X Factor last year as well as appearances in Russia’s junior version of The Voice. Kostov not only becomes the youngest artist in this year’s contest but is also the first ever Eurovision participant to be born in the year 2000.
