Sverre Kjelsberg (left), one half of the duo which represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980, has died at the age of 69 from a currently unknown cause of death, having previously recovered from cancer.

Kjelsberg sang the Norwegian 1980 entry “Sámiid Ædnan”, a song about the Sami population of Norway, alongside Mattis Hætta where the duo finished 16th with 15 points. Sverre was one of the composers of the song along Ragnar Olsen. He was also a member of the rockband The Pussycats between 1964 and 1967.
