Corry Brokken dies aged 83

One of the first winners of the Eurovision Song Contest has unfortunately passed away. Corry Brokken, who was also the first representative of the Netherlands in Eurovision, as well as their first winner and only the second victorious singer in the contest’s history, has died at the age of 83. She won the competition in 1957 with “Net Als Toen”.

She was also the singer for the Netherlands in the following contest in 1958 and as a result was one of only three artists to have ever sang for their country three years in a row, alongside Lys Assia for Switzerland, Udo Jürgens (who died in late 2014) for Austria and Valentina Monetta for San Marino.

A sad day for the Eurovision world, rest in peace Corry Brokken!
