2011 2012 2013 Estonia Latest News Estonian Eurovision Alumni Perform in Pärnu By Gerry Avelino Posted on June 23, 2014 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Rain couldn’t keep them from shining through: Eurovision veterans Koit Toome, Getter Jaani, Ott Lepland and Birgit Õigemeel joined forces last Saturday, June 21, at the Pärnu Summer Concert. The concert did not only herald the coming of (a rather rainy) summer, but also commemorated the 10th anniversary of both Estonia’s accession to the European Union and their membership in NATO. The concert was held at Pärnu Concert Hall in Pärnu, Estonia’s summer capital. Koit began the concert singing his most popular songs, and was joined later by Getter in performing their new summer hit single “Rannamaja” (English: Beach House). They were followed by Ott and Birgit who both sang their own solo songs, as well as the duet that featured on Birgit’s latest album, “Pea meeles head”. You can listen to both songs below: [vsw id=”uGrD-3BAtFk” width=”600″ height=”400″ source=”youtube” autoplay=”no”] [vsw id=”or7StWR7TQA” width=”600″ height=”400″ source=”youtube” autoplay=”no”] All four performers represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in the past. Koit sang “Mere lapsed” at the 1998 contest in Birmingham, finishing 12th. Getter was one of the bookies’ favorites to win the 2011 contest in Dusseldorf with “Rockefeller Street”, but only managed 24th. Ott was the most successful of the four, winning 6th in 2012 with “Kuula”, making his entry Estonia’s best placement in the last five years. Birgit followed him in 2013 with “Et uus saks alguse”, placing 20th. Source: elu24.ee + Parnu Postimees. Photo: Teppo Väätäinen, elu24.
