Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO has revealed plans to host a national final to select the nation’s Eurovision 2024 entry. And to make things more interesting, it’s not the EMA fans have gotten to know for the past two decades.

The show, titled “Misija Malmö” or Mission Malmö, is accepting entries until Nov. 15. Acts must be 16 years or older, and reside in Slovenia.

Applicants must include:

  • the fully completed and signed application form
  • an mp3 file of the song
  • the lyrics

A committee of international music experts will decide which artists and songs make it into the show. RTV Slovenia will announce the list of selected songs and performers for the special TV show on December 11.

At the moment, RTVSLO expects that the final of this revamped national final will take place in January 2024, with only a total of 4 participants.

Last year, RTVSLO chose the rock band Joker Out internally. Their song, “Carpe Diem,” quickly became a fan favorite and brought Slovenia its first qualification for the final since 2019. The song placed 21st in the final with 78 points.
